IN PENSIVE MOOD I LAY
In pensive mood last night I lay
Dwelling on my actions of that day,
Was I worthy of the gifts given me,
Worthy to dwell with God for eternity?

What can I change? Do I have time to wait
To alter my attitude, or will it be too late
Tomorrow? Will I awake His work to do,
Or every opportunity lost, my life all through?

Improve each moment, live for those around
Then I thought I should be heaven bound,
Repent hard for my every wrong doing,
Seek for and pray for His sweet forgiving.

Pensively my eye lids closed in restful sleep
And into a lovely place did I in sleep creep,
Mansions of grace and wordless beauty,
Standing among flowers and many a fair tree.

“Heaven is more fair than this, aim higher child
If you wish to meet God and Jesus so mild”
Work for good until your life on earth is done
Serve Him until the great battle for truth is won.

I awoke, and remembered that dream so clear,
I could not imagine a place much more dear
Than the scene I saw in my dream last night,
I made up my mind, to serve with all my might.
