FOR ANNEMARIE
Here is a thank you poem for dear sweet Annemarie,
Who volunteers to drive folks down into the big city,
Taking them for treatment, picking up all over the place,
Nearly always with a big happy smile on her jolly face.

Chatting while she drives, about this thing and that,
Keeping everyone cheerful, even telling about her cat
Who seems to be precocious and maybe a little pampered,
With his own electric toothbrush, to me seems quite absurd.

She knows all about the treatments and seems very wise,
Squeezes two into a seat belt, hoping police close their eyes,
Soon my husbands treatment will be all finished and done
And we hope that the cancer battle is all over and won.

But she will keep on going and many other volunteers too,
Racing through the traffic, most of it rush hour through,
And I know they will all be blest for all the good they do,
Thanks again dear Annemarie and friends and God bless you.
