More poems about the Gifts of Life

WHAT CAN WE SAY
Do we say ‘what can we contribute through this day’,
Or what can we grab what is free has come out way?
Will we try to be cheerful, spread sunshine around,
Or will we grumble at every situation that is found.

What can we say to someone who is down and out?
Be kind and helpful, or ignore them, bad names shout?
Because we will never know what may happen to us,
Shouldn’t we be always kind, never moan or make a fuss?

Are we blest with the gift of always saying the right thing,
Or do we thoughtlessly put our foot in it sorrow to bring?
Life is far too short to spoil with petty acts and cruel words,
Let us strive that what we say be worthy in heaven to be heard.
