DOWN TOWN APPOINTMENT
Nine a.m. in the core of downtown Toronto we have to be.
As money was tight we went to Yorkdale where parking is free.
Then a long southbound subway ride we did like others take,
When we arrived there my husband found hed made a mistake.
The diagnostic disc his new doctor really needed to see
Was at home in the china cabinet as safe as it could be.
Bravely I said I would go helter-skelter all the way home,
Along those bust highways and through Torontos street to roam.
Off I set on that long northward bound subway ride
All went well, but an open exit from parking did hide.
At last westward going fast on the 401, hoping truck drivers would be
Very kind and forgiving to a little old lady like me.
The 427 was busy, I chose a lane, hoping it would go fast,
I surprised myself by the number of cars and trucks I did pass.
The QEW was moving quite well as at almost 120 I sped so you can tell.
Doing 70 along Lakeshore was a pain, but I made it home quite well
I grabbed the disc, checked the phone, no time to go the loo,
Jumped in the car and then back on the road again I flew.
The traffic was moving very fast just for me to exit at York
Giving myself directions so to myself all the way I did talk.
No parking! Oh dear me, line up outside the hospital front door
Then I ran round the block fast, by feet hardly touching the floor,
The timing was perfect, I gave my husband the disc with care
The we ran all the way back hoping the car would still be there.
