EATING ON HOLIDAY
When going to the wild east coast for your holiday,
It goes without saying youll have fish done someway,
Lobster rolls, shrimp stir fry, haddock just nicely fried,
Clam chowder, scallops and many other fish we tried.
Everyday at least once some nice fresh fish we ate,
Sometimes in a posh restaurant or on a paper plate,
There is no taste really like it when fresh is the fish,
It tastes just as good wrapped in paper, or a silver dish.
Not once did I tire of that fresh fish delectable taste,
Whether we ate it very slowly or gobbled it in haste,
All other foods seem to dim, just fish came to mind,
Only a couple of times on my plate fish I did not find.
Now the holiday is over, very little fish for awhile,
Maybe go down to the chippy and say with a smile,
Fresh haddock please, just caught fresh for today
Knowing that from the sea we are much too far away.
