LATE STRAWBERRY CROP
Every time I go shopping or drive around,
There are no local strawberrys yet to be found,
Not one Pick your Own sign comes into view.
I am getting a little impatient, arent you?
Other years we have been eating many berries,
Already mouths drooling, waiting for cherries,
But all you find in the stores are grown in the USA.
How much longer before just picked come our way.
At least two weeks behind are berries this year,
Not a good crop seems to be everyones fear,
Too much rain and not enough warm sun
Came when the first strawberry growth begun.
But when we first go out to eat and pick our own,
Munching them warm from the sun, locally grown,
It may be worth the wait for those lovely berries,
And then almost at once come the juicy cherries.
