In our world today there is many types of pollution. The pollution enters our environment by many passages. The environmental protection agency has slowly but surely stricken up standards of pollution control, even the people have started to control what they put into the environment. With the stock market crash not so long ago, the big depression, people thought of many was to conserve. Now because of a heighten environmental awareness the population has decided to put conservation and pollution control to work, for a better future for the environment.

        Back in the mid nineteen hundreds with the fall of the stock market came hard times. These times brought about mass conservation of material items, and resources. Technology came to the aid by creating inexpensive household items. At that time the people weren’t to concerned with polluting the environment, but conservation was a must. Since they had no choice people devised many ways to save a buck, and stretch a loaf of bread.

        A little later in the same century the big gas crisis occurred. Along with a shortage of other energies, oil shortage was especially hard on the American people with there v8 engines, and wasteful ways. Conservation once again came over the people.  With the help of technology, which was demanded to advance for the good of the world, cars, factories, and processing plants were made more efficient. Still pollution wasn’t a major factor in the advance of society.

        About this same time environmentally conscious people started to work on awareness. With a heightened awareness of problems caused by pollution the U.S. effected more and more regulations, and standards to clean up the environment. Again technology had to advance in order to create cleaner ways, and new process to replace the existing methods.
 
        Today most of the population is aware of the misuse that has occurred to date. They are also seeing more and more adverse effects of not conserving, and polluting. Several groups have formed over the years, and lately these various groups have been very active in fixing this mess.
