        Sabrina Dawn Gotman

This page is dedicated to Sabrina Gotman. Sabrina had Pulmonary veno-occlusive, a very rare lung disease. She was waiting for a double lung transplant in the winter of 1999, and received one in April 1999. Despite her serious illness, she worked to increase the awareness of the importance of organ donation. "One life can save five," she reminded us. "I just want people to realise it is a great gift to recieve a second chance at life but sometimes it's alot harder after transplant then it is before. I also would like people to not forget to SIGN THERE DONOR CARDS!!! I can not stress that enough. Why take you're organs to heaven? Heaven knows we need them here."

I am sorry to announce that Sabrina passed away on January 17 2000 after battling infections and chronic rejection. The double lung transplant she received last spring enabled her to spend more precious time with her family. Her mom Linda said, "We still want people to understand just how important organ donation is. It may not let Sabrina live a long life but it has given us longer than we would have if she had not had the transplant." Sabrina strongly encouraged everyone to sign their organ donor cards. She was quoted "One life can save 5" meaning a single donor can help up to five other people. As she and her family wished, her organs were donated to help others.

I am sorry to tell you that Sabrina's dad Nick died October 12th 2002 from brain cancer.

To everyone who knew Sabrina: friends, teachers, classmates, nurses, doctors, penpals, neighbours, aunts, uncles, cousins, all family: please share your anecdotes or favourite memory of Sabrina. Her mom is writing a bio on Sabrina for the Foundation at the Hospital for Sick Kids as there was an endowment fund purchased in her name. She would like to hear from Sabrina's friends, maybe people who knew her could write about some times they had with her or memories of her. To those who didn't know her, but would like to express your support, I encourage you to write as well.
