Pax Romana by Nathanael Smith Can we ever live in peace again? Pax Romana takes such a high toll. It demands that we give up the simplicity of youth and trade it in for the bondage of high society. This society monster is the same one, which while under a different guise, took the lives of countless people of classes considered "lesser" over the millenia. It was this sort of high society that broke the back of one of the greatest civilizations that America ever spawned. The Aztecs, it is suggested, would still be the primary inhabitants of Central America except that an unbridged gap arose between the nobles and those people of common ancestry. As a result, the Aztecs fell, subjecting their land to poverty for centuries. In fact, those lands once occupied by the great civilization are some of the poorest and war-ridden lands in the entire western hemisphere.
