The James D. Ployhar Honor Band Festival has been established by this inaugural concert as an annual event in the honor of Mr. James Ployhar, a prolific composer of school band music and a Valley City State University graduate.  Mr. Ployhar’s music has entertained and inspired audiences all over America and the world with solid and rich compositional style and tremendous audience appeal. 

 

This concert featured six of Mr. Ployhar’s pieces, the last of which was conducted by Mr. Ployhar himself.  The audience sang patriotic songs along with accompaniment from the band, all under Mr. Ployhar’s direction.
