Andong Folk Village

Andong Folk Village is created on the hillside overlooking the river. Preserved there are 10 houses form the district, one kaeksa (an inn used by traveling government officials), an ice-storage cellar and the Andong Folk Museum.

Since the village is just outside of Andong City, I went there often. I spent many hours there with my friends.

  Hahoe Folk Village

For a memorable journey off the beaten track, back into 16th-century Korea, it's definitely worth making the effort to visit the village of Hahoe (pronounced Ha-hway). This village has to be one of Korea's most picturesque destinations. Here, precious little has changed for centuries. Ruddy-cheeked men work in their fields and lay a new cover of yellow thatch on their roofs. Red peppers are spread on mats to dry and women keep busy making kimch'i out of piles of cabbage and other vegetables.

Here we see Ginette (my sister) with an old Korean man in traditionnal dress at Hahoe.
