Korean Open-Air Markets

Korea has fantastic Open-Air Markets.  Farmers and business people set their little stands on the sidewalks or they invade a full street blocking off traffic. There are also little shops everywhere.  It is great to go walking threw the markets if you stand the smell!

You can buy anything in these markets:  fruit and vegetables, fast food, books, makeup, furniture,  appliances, a kitchen sink, clothes, shoes, linen and even live stock.  You name it, they've got it!

Here are some pictures that I collected of the markets...

This is one of the many food carts that can be found in the markets.  They sell many korean delicacies such as Odaeng (Boiled, pressed fish cake), P'ajon (Green onion pancakes), chon (slices of   fish and vegetables pan-fried in an egg and wheat-flour batter) and Oksusu (corn on the cob).

In Andong's old market there was a very special alley.  It is commonly called Pig Alley by the foreigners. Just click on the pig below to find out what you will discover in Pig Alley.  Be forewarned that this is full of gory sites.
