BIG AL

Objective:  Students will be able to listen to the story of Big Al and retell it recalling details about the beginning, middle and ending.

Materials Needed:   Big Al by Andrew Clements, Story Chart, Anticipatory Set:      Students will look at the cover picture of Big Al and answer the following questions:
a. How would you feel if you were a tiny fish and Big Al swam up to you?
b. What would you do?
c. Why?

Procedure:

Before reading the story to the children, show them the chart below. Tell the children that after they have finished listening to the story the class will identify and discuss the different sections of the story (beginning, middle, ending, and the main idea or theme.
Summary:
Teacher and children will complete the story chart below.
Evaluation:
The completion of the chart will show the students were able to identify information found in the beginning, middle and ending of the story.
