Quite a few members of my extended family are buried in Roselawn. It is a very beautiful cemetery, established in 1891. It is in Blende, which is an outskirt of Pueblo.
Part of my family moved to Colorado in the 1880's, to places like La Veta, where the famous Miner Strike happened. (When the government decided to kill some of the miners...). I believe I have an incredibly interesting family history, since my family moved to the U.S. in 1609, many years before it became a country. Some of my ancestors include General "Stonewall" Jackson, and many others.
I have about fifteen relatives buried here, everyone from Great Grandparents, to baby cousins, aunts, uncles, and my Grandmother.
I would have to say that I visit this cemetery more often than any other, mainly because my family is here. Plus, the layout is very nice and haunting. Being so old, there are plenty of huge trees to sit under and think, and many old markers to ponder. The saddest that comes to mind is one in the old section. It is a simple little wooden cross that simply says "baby", and I must stop there every time to ponder about this poor baby and what it's name was and who it's parents were....
Although I have many pictures of family gravestones, I do not feel that I should include them, out of respect to my mother. She wouldn't feel right about me doing so. And I do not mean any disrespect by showing other gravestones.
Another nice feature about this particular cemetery is the upkeep. It is incredibly clean and well taken care of. The green grass is rather enjoyable to sit on, and the old trees offer so many stories of what they have seen over the past 100 years. Even though I much rather enjoy run-down, unkept, and haunted cemeteries, I am rather partial to this one for many reasons. Please visit Roselawn Cemetery if you are in the neighbourhood.
