Paris is a young nobleman, a relative of Prince Escalus,
who is in love with Juliet Capulet. He asks Lord Capulet to marry Juliet, but Lord Capulet
tells him to wait two summers until she is old enough to be a bride (fourteen years old!).
Juliet and Paris see each other at the Capulet party, but Juliet is busy falling in love
with Romeo. After Tybalt's death, Paris arrives at the Capulets to woo Juliet. She will
not come down. Instead, Paris and Lord Capulet speak and it is decided that to stop her
grief over Tybalt's death, Juliet will marry Paris in three days time. Paris explains this
to Friar Laurence and arranges for the wedding. After Juliet takes a sleeping potion to
get out of the arranged marriage, Paris is heartbroken because he believes she is dead. He
goes to her tomb at night with flowers and scented oils. He is mourning for Juliet when
Romeo arrives. He challenges Romeo, who he thinks has come to defile Tybalt's tomb. He is
mortally wounded and begs Romeo to lay him in the crypt next to his love, Juliet. Romeo
grants Paris' last wish, because he knows how it feels to love Juliet.
