en route to Seoul
9:11 a.m.

Yesterday I climbed a mountain. In a dress. Yep. And then I was the only girl in the group to go swimming in the ocean because it had gotten so cold. So not like me. . . . We also went to the Unification Observatory up in the demilitarized zone. . . . We had to climb about 180 steps to get to it. . . . Apparently the last stations for each side are only 500 meters apart, and the North Koreans broadcast negative propaganda from theirs all the time. What is considered the most beautiful mountain in Korea is in the North. We couldn't see it because the mist was so thick. . . . Today we're heading [back to the dorm].

Cell phones are even more prevalent here than in the United States. . . . Apparently even little kids have them.

[Supposedly the North Koreans have stopped the broadcasts since the recent meeting of the leaders of the North and the South, though.]
