TULANG BELOT (Herring-bone Stitch)

These diagrams of the Tulang Belot Stitch is contributed by Mahyar Saaban Hardjo. The process is shown in 17 steps. This complex version of the Herringbone stitch is sewn at the edge of the slit neckline of the Baju Kurung. It is usually executed in complimentary colour to the colours of the Baju.. Such embroidered binding is now absent from the modern Baju Kurung as this stitching is a time consuming process. The finer the thread used, the more delicate the stitching will be.
