Life Goes On
Doors and windows open
church bells in the distance
chiming Father Time
congratulating his persistence
somewhere they are deaf
unaware that life goes on
passing places they might have turned
with arms wide to dawn
we can't understand each other
you're here but I won't let you in
too beautiful when I say goodbye
eyes turn blue, heart grows thin.
Maybe it's just that you've forgotten
how it is to have to be strong
but I am reminded each and every hour
how sad it is that life goes on.
