Tussling with brother: Sepdet and Sebek acting like perfectly ordinary siblings, for one precious evening (10/28)
Fallout Shelter
Sebek finds a place to put the two guns. "Bulky clothes are good things."
Sepdet nods and pats her vest. ~Gnawers have the right of that.~
Sebek grins, practicing his quick-draw. He's...quick.
Sepdet watches with an admiration mixed with wistfulness. ~I am so tired of human things.~
Sebek raises an eyebrow. ~Why?~
Sepdet flaps a hand at their prison of concrete, beds, pipes. ~This. I want my caern. I saw a Fianna theurge from that place last night, who was lost in the scab. She says they have forgotten the spirits, and worry about homid things--feuds and humans too close to the Bawn--even there.~
Sebek sighs. ~Do you think the Great Killings were better?~
Sepdet lifts her head. ~Duat, no. I do not wish the humans harm. I merely wish to be where I am best, guarding my caern, tending trees, listening to the ebb and flows of the spirits.~
Sebek spins the glocks on his forefingers. ~Good. Garou now don't like listening to spirits, I've noticed. They like to listen to their weaver toys more than each other.~
Sepdet smiles at Sebek a little. ~As I have to listen to a "phone" every day to hear news from my pack. This, I never thought Hope would be doing.~
Sebek chuckles. ~That's not what I meant, silly. I mean the..."idiot boxes" things.~
Sepdet flashes her teeth. ~We never used it,~ she says plaintively. ~It was Toxic's. She'd be thrown out her tribe if she didn't have one!~
Sepdet's tone is a little lighter than it has been.
Sebek giggles, slipping the guns into his pants. ~Stop it...~ He keeps giggling in a fit.
Sepdet's eyes crinkle, the pleasure at her brother's laughter lighting up her whole face. ~Maybe you can help me pull tricks on the Stormcrow when we get back. It would be fun. Twice as many little-moon Striders to remind the elders that even spirits can smile.~
Sebek laughs. ~Can you tap-dance?~
Sepdet looks coy. ~I can dance, anyway.~
Sebek starts tapping away--which isn't quite impressive when wearing running shoes. "Me...and my shaadow..."
Sebek doesn't do very well, but he seems to be doing it for its humor value alone. "Walking down the avenue." <tap tap>
Sepdet laughs, watching her brother's moves with a wide grin as she gets to her feet. ~I don't have a shadow, anymore. You know? I lost it. You'll have to do for both of us.~ She does a toe-twirl on the mattress.
Sebek stops dancing. ~No shadow? Where?~ He glances at his sister's feet. ~You lost it? Then we better find it.~ He shuffles to the bed and glances under.
Sepdet can't resist, and grabs his shoulders lightly when he's distracted.
Sebek looks up. ~It may be down here. There are lots of shadows under here.~
Sebek looks at his shoulders. ~I'm caught!~ he exclaims, smiling.
Sepdet says, ~When looking for shadows, you always gootta look behind you!~ She gives her brother a mischievous jab in the ribs.
Sebek wriggles. ~Oof. Hey.~ He turns around and puts his hands on your waist. ~That mean you're my shadow, sister?~
Sepdet butts her temple wolflike against your shoulder and starts shoving. Shove shove shove. ~Yep. That explains why I follow you, ey?~
Sebek giggles. His hands move up to your sides and he starts tickling. ~Then I'll be your shadow and you'll be mine.~
Sepdet falls into a tussling wolf-pile, forgetting what form she's in, nipping lightly like a jackal. ~Anubis won't know which one to frown at, and when to smile! We'll baffle'm all!~
Sebek wrestles with you gently, his grabs being gentle caresses and loving hugs. ~Like Abbott and Costello, just funny.~
Sepdet wrestles, pokes, and tugs for a while, then finally lays still, sprawled across you in a tangle of thin arms and legs, staring tilted upside down at the ceiling with a happy expression on her face. ~Human spirits I don't know again,~ she says teasingly. ~Hey-YA!~ It comes out as a yip. ~I have a littermate /my/ size, and we have a den too big to hold us! What do you say to that, Gaia?~
Sebek snakes his arms around you and puts his head on your shoulder. ~I could be stuck in a nutshell with you and still be happy.~
Sepdet shakes her head. ~We'll get you to my nutshell soon. And then we can dance under our star at the caern. Maybe the next Moot! Maybe for Opening Sky! Oh, Magpie could not bear to stay away, if she saw you.~
Sebek snickers. ~She'd run screaming if she saw two of us.~
Sebek wrinkles his brow. ~Wait a minute. Why is a spirit gone?~
Sepdet bites her lip. ~She's hiding, like I am. I don't know why. It's part of what is making me so stir crazy. She--went away. I heard her voice at last Moot, saying she wasn't angry, but she couldn't come. We've been searching for her. The other two Totems says she won't even tell them what the matter is, and Thorn-rhya...yuf...the Master of Rites...he says we shouldn't distract her from whatever it is she's trying to do.~
Sebek frowns. ~Oh.~
Sebek runs a finger down your arm. ~Everything will be okay, I'm sure.~
Sepdet closes her eyes. ~Hope so,~ she says simply. ~I always worry, I'm afraid.~
Sebek leans over to kiss you gently on the cheek. ~Be strong, sister. Remember that I love you and we are strong together.~
Sepdet smiles. ~I remember. And we are. I want all the caern to see us--~ she laughs slightly at her own enthusiasm. ~Or at least Eligio, my mentor. Thorn. Anubis. They are very tired, and this caern has too many people who love each other little, fighting constantly when there is no enemy to fight. The elders whom I honor could use the hope which I have had trouble giving them, this last year.~
Sebek smiles. ~I will give them as much as I can. As much as we can give together, I hope. But until then we have only each other to worry about, okay?~
Sepdet nods and looks around. ~Just each other.~
Sebek yawns. "Tired."
Sebek uncurls himself from you and slips into a kneel. He puts his arms around you and lifts you up easily. ~Up we go.~
Long distance to Sebek: Sepdet hugs. Thanks for putting up with lag. I'm GMing a grand finale to end all scenes elsewhere, and it got totally away from me. Fun, though. And it's so nice...to have Sepdet able to laugh and touch without remembering Dancers' laughter, touches that hurt. I will be so sad if you're not alive at the end of this story.
Sepdet stands up. ~Do we get the top bunk then, tonight?~ she asks teasingly. ~It's closer to our star.~
Sebek picks you up. ~If you like.~
Sebek pages: I'll try my best to be alive at the end. I'm enjoying myself too.
Sebek says, ~Doesn't matter, as long as I have my favorite garou-pillow.~
Sebek offers to lift you onto the top bunk. ~The Amazing Flying Striders...~
Sepdet wiggles up onto the bunk and sprawls, holding out an arm to gather him in. ~I'll try not to go hispo on you and knock you out of the bed tonight,~ she says sheepishly. Then she begins to hum her favorite lullabye, for the sheer pleasure of it.
Sebek hops in and snuggles up to you, then sleeps soundly.
