The timeframe is shortly after the Wendigo first arrived at the Wheel, under leadership of Red Sky. They were just beginning to work with the sept. This is shortly before the Ice King made its appearance, as hints and prophesies show.
Justice acts as Fool during the Litany-calling, an unusual role for a Galliard. Red Sky leads the Inner Sky with dramatic results. Anubis, as Waykeeper, gives an unusual tirade. Stormcrow inadvertently yields words of wisdom. Mention of the Fish spirit guarding the river and the Yakima reservation also show up, for trivia-collectors.

In the distance, Song Weaver can be heard to howl, ~We Gather. Come. We Howl. Come Howl.~
nw
You head down the path, away from the Story Tree.
Off the East Side of the Wheel
You stand on rising ground, amidst a healthy forest of evergreen trees. Pines and aspens rise around you, all but obscuring the sky above; the ground below your feet is soft with browned needles, although you can see sizable rocks jutting from the earth here and there. Looking out through the trees towards the eastern distance, you think you can make out the snow-capped, clouded peaks of the mountains; below them, the dark stone of the lower cliffs presents an imposing sight at even this remove. The forest is all but silent around you; a cool wind brushes your face, vanishing into the woods from whence it came.
A path wends its way east through the forest, and another appears to open into a small clearing to the southeast. To the west, the trees thin before giving over onto the Great Wheel.

You make your way through the thinning trees to the west.
Eastern Curve of the Wheel
Between the firepit ahead and the clear pool behind, the path makes an almost contradictory change as it arcs along the east end of the Wheel. The sparse grasses near the pool diverge into two groups, dispersed between the deeply etched lines: some are dead and wilted, almost singed to death; and some are strong and a healthy green. A path leads east, away from the Wheel.

Center of the Great Wheel
This circular clearing is about 40 yards in diameter and completely bounded by the Wheel of Nature inscribed in the ground. Soft green grasses cover much of the ground, but several paths have been worn to bare dirt over time. The only landmark within the Wheel is the low Table Stone at the center, but four important landmarks make up sections of the Wheel: the windy spot to the southwest, a small pool to the southeast, a firepit to the northeast, and a large mound of earth to the northwest.

Windy Spot South Pool East Fire Pit North Earth Mound West
Near the Fire Pit, Red Sky plants the butt end of his spear in the earth, to his side; he watches the racket at the place of winds silently, impassively.
Near the Pool, Justice contorts and blurs as she is transformed.
On the eastern curve, Anubis walks through to the Truthcatcher's post slowly, looking rather tired and haggard.
On the eastern curve, Anubis heads into the center.
Anubis has arrived.
Lara-Anne smiles gently at Sepdet.
Anubis heads northwest to the mound of earth.
Anubis has left.
On the eastern curve, Jenny makes her way out of the woods to the east.
Near the Pool, Justice shifts into Crinos form.
On the southern curve, Lauren heads into the center.
Lauren has arrived.
On the eastern curve, Jenny pauses at the edge of the Wheel, looking very uncomfortable here.
Lara-Anne nods to Lauren.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis climbs to the top of the mound and sits quietly.
Lara-Anne contorts and blurs as she is transformed.
Lara-Anne shifts before your eyes, a blur of rippling motion, slipping into Lupus form.
:dips her eyes to Anubis before looking to anyone else, observing him warily.
Near the Pool, Justice raises her own Howl, dischording with Song Weaver's, the thunderous tones that call the Wyld spreading through it.
Sepdet dips her eyes to Anubis before looking to anyone else, observing him warily.
Adam contorts and blurs as he is transformed.
Brian mutters, under his breath, "Aroo." He leans his weight a bit more heavily onto the staff of birch.
Adam shifts into Lupus form.
Deadly-Eyes barks over to Jenny. ~ Come over here. ~
Need-Reason slips over to stand by the side of Prey Breaker.
Deadly-Eyes gives Brian a curious look, then adds her howl, if a brief one, to the others.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis nods vaguely at Sepdet in return, and adds a soft howl of his own into the growing noise.
On the eastern curve, Jenny heads into the center.
Jenny has arrived.
PreyBreaker watches Justice with a focused sharpness, resisting the pull of other distractions.
Ali howls low and throatily, grey eyes glittering as they scan the Wheel.
MoonMist joins her voice to the howl, softly.
\Ayat draws in a deep breath and releases the low, rumbling howl of this form, building in volume.
Deadly-Eyes waits for Jenny to join her, then whispers into the girl's ear.
Near the Fire Pit, Red Sky remains silent, impassive, watching.
Velasquez glances at the twins next to him, not making any move to join the howl.
Grips-Tightly begins a howl which quickly turns to a cough.
PreyBreaker's muzzle reaches skyward in sharp prelude to the quick brightness of his howl.
Elizabeth tilts back her head and adds a human howl of her own. Her voice cracks slightly at the end, but it rises over all the soft howls with a sound like a lost wail.
Jenny recognizes Megan in her lupus form if not understanding her. She makes her wayover to one of the few friends she has here.
On the southern curve, FireBeneathSkin comes in from the woodland to the south.
Need-Reason joins the chorus with a more forceful howl than previously, the howl of an adult.
Near the Pool, Justice drops out of the Howl, flesh sliding away untiul she stands in her birth form.
Near the Pool, Justice shifts into Homid form.
Bearclaw watches in silence.
In the Windy Spot, Song Weaver's voice reaches a triumphant note, and ends, drawing the others into silence with her.
Eligio Sacateca contorts and blurs as he is transformed.
Eligio Sacateca ripples and changes, slipping into Crinos form.
On the southern curve, FireBeneathSkin turns his muzzle skyward, and roars, a bellowing howl with a discordant, higher-pitched note to it, sounding like two howls of one throat.
Dave tips muzzle up and adds his clear, high voice to the call.
On the northern curve, FireWyld emerges from the thin treeline to the north.
Rain Walker throws back his head and howls his lonely cry to the sky and the earth.
On the northern curve, FireWyld blinks and whuffs a greeting to her packmate.
On the northern curve, Rik nods.
Jenny looks at Deadly-Eyes with a confused look.
On the southern curve, Scents-Darkness comes in from the woodland to the south.
On the southern curve, Scents-Darkness heads into the center.
Scents-Darkness has arrived.
Lauren settles in next to Grips-Tightly, sitting cross-legged on the ground. At the sound of his cough she gives him a soft pat on the back.
MoonMist glances speculatively at Grips-Tightly.
Grips-Tightly licks Lauren hello.
Jenny shivers, her green eyes wide, as the clearing fills.
On the southern curve, FireBeneathSkin heads into the center.
FireBeneathSkin has arrived.
On the northern curve, FireWyld nudges Rik's leg with her snout. Not gonna join the main party?
Scents-Darkness winds her way through the assembled Garou, settling back on her haunches in an empty spot.
Deadly-Eyes gives a lupine sign, and gives Jenny a reassuring swipe with her head, then goes to watching everything attentively.
On the northern curve, Rik shrugs. "A superior asked me to move, I just kind of ended up here."
Brian reaches his right hand across his body, to clutch around the birch pole for additional support. He watches the windy spot, clear boredom registering in his eyes.
On the northern curve, FireWyld shrugs wolfishly and settles back on her haunches next to Rik.
In the Windy Spot, Song Weaver calls out in a voice clear and loud, ~Garou Shall Not Mate With Garou.~
Near the Pool, Justice tosses back her hair. "But Mules are such worthy Garou. Flying-Bear-YUF rises to the second circle. Thorn-YUF is our Master of the Rite. Why not create more worthies such as these?"
Deadly-Eyes peers at Justice, clearly startled. A Galliard plays the Fool?
Elizabeth says "We all do, from time to time."
Ayat blinks, startled.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis watches quietly, his tired eyes scanning the crowd.
In the Windy Spot, Song Weaver snorts, ~Their line ends with them. Even those worthy, cannot continue our race.~
FireBeneathSkin's breath hisses out at the sound of Justice's words.
Near the Fire Pit, Red Sky's jaw tightens slightly, and his free hand clenches into a fist; he takes a step back from the fire, into the shadows cast by the trees.
Rain Walker howls. ~They do so in spite of their heritage, not because of it.~
Brian yawns.
Elizabeth says louder "We are brothers and sisters. You do not sleep with your brother."
FireBeneathSkin contorts and blurs as he is transformed.
FireBeneathSkin shifts into Hispo form.
PreyBreaker has connected.
In the Windy Spot, Song Weaver nods agreement with Rain Walker.
Lauren chuckles. "Unless you live in Tennessee," she says quietly.
MoonMist purses her lips slightly, giving an approving glance at Elizabeth.
Grips-Tightly noodzhes Lauren.
In the Windy Spot, Song Weaver calls out again, ~Combat the Wyrm Wherever it Dwells, and Wherever it Breeds~
Ali's ears flick to Lauren.
Near the Pool, Justice pitches her voice in a wheedle. "How about we only go after the *big* Wyrms, we'll leave the little ones, it's too hard chasing after each and every one, and we're *tired*."
Brian turns his head to glance at his left wrist, a place where a watch would be.
Need-Reason snarls at the Fool's suggestion.
Ayat frowns, thinking.
MoonMist says, ~The Wyrm doesn't rest. Nor should we.~
Deadly-Eyes barks sharply. You will be more tired if the little ones catch you sleeping.
Jenny simply looks confused at Justice's words.
Scents-Darkness snorts. ~The littlest ones sneak and hide, and can cause the most harm.~
FireBeneathSkin snorts. Some of us have no choice but to combat the Wyrm.
Ali's neck-ruff heightens. Little ones grow up.
Elizabeth says "The Wyrm is out to get us /all/."
PreyBreaker lowers his head slightly. It is our heritage and duty to combat the Wyrm. For this reason we are Garou.
MoonMist says, ~We are blessed by Gaia so that we /can/ fight the Wyrm. It is our duty.~
Ali has disconnected.
Rain Walker howls ~Every creature of the Wyrm is a desecration of all we hold true. A thousand tiny banes will destroy the world as quickly as one elder bane.~
Dave says, ~For Gaia, all must fight.~
On the northern curve, FireWyld pays attention, listening and making appropriate comments where necessary.
In the Windy Spot, Song Weaver fixes Ayat with an icy stare. Her eyes not leaving his form as she speaks. ~Respect the Territory of Another.~
Near the Pool, Justice says "This is America, I can go where I please. It's what my forefathers fought for: freedom."
Brian mutters, under his breath, "Feel like I'm at a goddamn rugby game."
Need-Reason looks round, surprised at Echen-rhya's comment.
Near the Fire Pit, Red Sky's eyes blaze as they settle on Justice; still the Wendigo says nothing.
Sepdet snarls ~This is America, a creation of the homids who /destroyed/ Gaia's land and those who cared for it. I call it freedom, doing the Wyrm's work."
Deadly-Eyes gives Brian a puzzled look.
Rain Walker howls again ~/Your/ forefathers fought the Wyrm. /My/ forefathers fought the Wyrm. The Wyrmcomers fight for their own freedom, freedom to destroy all we hold dear.~
FireBeneathSkin sits back. And if others' forefathers came to move as they pleased here? Or elsewhere? And took your own territory in so doing?
Maury has arrived.
On the northern curve, Rik shivers and pulls his coat dearer to him.
Lauren spends a few moments looking incredibly bored, then looks over at Justice consideringly. "Sheesh, that doesn't even make -sense-. Try walking into a downtown bank at night and see what it gets you." In a low mutter she adds, "Next time we clean the screwdriver -before- the lobotomy."
Need-Reason knows that we are ever at War. And in War, all must be strong or perish.
In the Windy Spot, Song Weaver says, ~Accept an Honorable Surrender.~
Near the Pool, Justice looks a bit pained, but says with a gravelly snarl. "He went down, his throat is mine."
Maury edges through the crowd to stand by Brian.
Near the Fire Pit, Red Sky snorts at the Talesinger-Fool's comment.
Deadly-Eyes gives Brian a pointed look, then answers. It does not matter. Most of us would be dead if all thought that.
Bearclaw remains still and silent, gaze not necessarily fixed on anything at the moot.
Ayat rumbles. There is no need to kill if one has proven one's point.
MoonMist says, ~Do not let your own arrogance stand in the way of one's honorable submission.~
Dave says, ~Refusal to accept surrender only weakens us, as we bleed ourselves white, saving the Wyrm the trouble.~
Brian lifts a shoulder, his left shoulder, at Deadly-Eyes' comment, and stifles another yawn.
FireBeneathSkin says, ~Expect the mercy from your own brothers and sisters in your time of defeat that you showed to others in your time of Rage.~
Need-Reason says, ~But never beg for mercy or be forever scorned.~
In the Windy Spot, Song Weaver straightens some more, ~Submit to those of Highe Station.~
Near the Pool, Justice yawns, sounding bored. "My Elder is a putz."
Brian's mouth quirks in a tiny grin, and his gaze moves to Eligio.
Ayat sits up erect. ~Those of higher station have earned their positions.~
Elizabeth suddenly beams. "Submitting saves the healers some work."
MoonMist grins lupinely at Elizabeth. Well said.
Dave has disconnected.
Maury flicks an ear in amusement.
FireBeneathSkin stretches, watching Justice-rhya. ~The Elders are our voices of experience and wisdom.~
PreyBreaker cocks his head slightly, listening and watching, drinking in the spectacle.
Deadly-Eyes's ears go flat to her head, as she lays down next to Jenny quietly.
Dave has connected.
In the Windy Spot, Song Weaver's clear voice calls out once more, ~The First of the Kill to the Greatest in Station.~
Sepdet says, ~Submit, or challenge; grumbling is a child's game.~
Near the Pool, Justice says "Yeah, we do the shit work, and they get the goods. We're no different from the Apes that way."
Song Weaver pages: Sorry. (:
Long distance to Song Weaver: Sepdet sokays. I'm helping someone get @created; bit slow on uptake. :)
Ayat snarls, pawing the ground. ~Those who will not accept the importance of the highest in station will have it taken from them. Far easier for all to submit as is proper.~
Jenny runs her fingers through Megan's mane, taking some comfort in her presence. She struggles to follow the words with little success.
Ali has connected.
MoonMist nips at Grips-Tightly's ear, for no apparent reason.
FireBeneathSkin gives the Shadow Lord an amused look.
Brian turns his eyes from Eligio to his left wrist, again searching for the watch that is not there.
Grips-Tightly blinks and shakes his head.
Maury looks at Megan and her friend, ears flicking briefly in curiousity.
Lauren gives a vague shrug. "Hey, if you get stuck with the shit jobs, that's your own faults. And if those above you do don't deserve what they get, you're a putz for not challenging."
Elizabeth says "The elders have many who depend on them. The younger don't. The elders need more so they can share it to provide for those who depend on them."
On the Earth Mound, Anubis listens quietly to the answers, watching those who speak them ... and those who stay silent.
Sepdet cannot quite stifle Coyote, and mutters ~Feed the Elders their iron, make 'em big and strong. /You/ want to have to run this joint?~
Justice pages: No, I don't! Save me! ;)
On the northern curve, Rik sits, wrapping his coat around his packmate.
Maury turns her head towards Sepdet, ears flicking again.

In the Windy Spot, Song Weaver listens to the answers given, nodding with some. She speaks again, ~Respect Those Beneath You. All are of Gaia.~
On the northern curve, FireWyld scoots a little closer to Rik and lays her head in his lap.
Rain Walker blinks and looks at the Windy Spot with narrowed eyes.
Maury looks up at Brian.
FireBeneathSkin waits.
Near the Pool, Justice says with some disgust, "I am so *sick* of whining cubs, punk Cliaths with chips on their choulders. We should just shut them up, so we can think."
MoonMist says, ~The cubs hold our future. They need to be taught our ways so that they may serve and protect Gaia more fully.~
FireBeneathSkin makes an amused sort of noise. ~All of us were cubs once. Allo of us were below others once. Far better that we treat them with respect, that one day they will be leaders strong and true.~
Dave says, ~We must all fight together for Gaia. If we loathe one another, how can there be trust between us in battle?~
Maury tilts her head. There are times they are right. There are times they are not. None will know unless they are heard.
Brian glances down at Maury and chews on his lower lip, the first real sign of interest he has shown in the entire event so far. He lifts his shoulder in a mild shrug, perhaps of apology, and grips his birch walking stick a bit tighter.
PreyBreaker glances over toward Red Sky, pausing to watch his reaction as this point of the litany is recited and responded to.
Elizabeth says quietly "When the Elders aren't there, the cubs are the protectors, the warriors, and the healers. If you disrespect them, how have you taught them to fight for your goals?"
Need-Reason says, ~The shieldwall holds only by the strength of the weakest. Let not your younger kin be weaklings!~
Near the Fire Pit, Red Sky, unsurprisingly, or perhaps not, does not speak.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis speaks softly. ~Little respect is ever given to those who do not give it in return.~
Elizabeth looks pointedly at the place where Arjun and Adrian should stand.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis's voice cracks somewhat.
Maury nudges Brian now, ears swiveling to listen to the others. But her next words are to him alone. I will remember.
Deadly-Eyes's tail thwaps the ground a couple of times at this part of the Litany, giving Brian and Maury a cursory glance with her eyes alone moving, then looking back at Justice and Song Weaver.
In the Windy Spot, Song Weaver says, ~Do not Suffer Thy People to Tend Thee in Thy Sickness.~
Ayat merely sits, listening.
Brian nods vaguely to Maury, his eyes still on the ground. He brings the walking stick in front of him, slightly, and leans into it.
Near the Pool, Justice says "But we all *love* Grandma!"
Grips-Tightly stifles a grin.
Ali stretches uneasily at this one.
In the Windy Spot, Song Weaver snorts, ~In their sickness they weaken us all.~
Rain Walker chooses this moment to glance at the wounded Fianna but does not say anything.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis glowers, in a rare display of emotion. He seems not mad at Justice, rather annoyed at the accuracy of the jibe.
Need-Reason growls harshly. ~Be not so quick to accept defeat. All may fight the Wyrm for one last glorious death!~
FireBeneathSkin sighs. ~In this world, one who is ill or wounded brings disaster upon the others. Disease follows the ill, and scavengers the injured. Better to tend one's own sickness and die without spreading to oethers.~
Need-Reason's gaze flicks around looking for those who would argue with this.
Dave says, ~There is a right time for everything. Including a time to die.~
Ayat growls. ~If they are old they can scavenge. If they are sick they can go elsewhere. There is not enough for the weak.~
Brian glances up to meet Eligio's eyes evenly, a burning intensity behind his own.
Matt raises a hand to cover A yawn, then looks around again.
Maury looks back at Justice. ~It is not we who must make the choice, but she, and love or no, loved or no, there is more need for her to act as she ought. There is danger otherwise.~
Lauren turns suddenly, and whispers to Grips-Tightly "What song was that from, about a time to die?"
Grips-Tightly indicates that it was Isaiah.
Velasquez smirks at Matt. "Not too much longer, man."
Matt grins slighty to Vel.
Hank grins at Vel.
In the Windy Spot, Song Weaver says, ~The Alpha May Be Challenged During a Time of Peace, Never During War.~
Brian clears his throat slightly. "The *leader*," he corrects, quietly.
Near the Pool, Justice says "I'm tired of all these Challenges. Just because he can beat me up, I've got a listen? Why don't we vote on stuff for a change?"
Ayat snorts. ~Why should one obey someone who was just chosen? How worthy can they be to lead?~
Deadly-Eyes snorts. ~ Congress does that, look where *they* are.... ~
Rain Walker says, ~If you choose to follow a politician into battle, you deserve the death you will surely meet.~
Dave says, ~Challenge in war is division and confusion, in war strong leadership is needed.~
Maury refuses to look at anyone during this one, gaze on the ground before her and Brian.
Lauren explains patiently to Justice. "Because the boys will vote for a bunch of different boys, and the girls will vote for just one girl, and then the boys will get pissed. Happened all the time in elementary school."
FireBeneathSkin says ~It is far too dangerous to risk fracturing the tribe and the pack by challenging a leader during war. Strength is needed then. In peace something must be done if the leader is wrong, and it is not so necessary to keep a solid front.~
In the Windy Spot, Song Weaver says, ~The Alpha May Be Challenged During a Time of Peace, Never During War.~
Elizabeth sighs and says "We're all one. If we voted, we'd be split into different groups supporting different leaders. And that leaves cracks that evil can enter and hate can build."
Deadly-Eyes chuffs once softly, in amusement, then falls quiet, putting her head on Jenny's knee.
FireBeneathSkin darts a glance at the Child of Gaia, but says nothing.
In the Windy Spot, Song Weaver says, ~The Veil Shall Not Be Lifted.~
Near the Pool, Justice says "Okay, but we have to make an exception for my boyfriend. And his girlfriend. And that one's buddy. Those sweet Mages, they're really nice! And maybe some of the *better* Vampires. But just those. We'll keep everbody else out."
Deadly-Eyes growls softly in her throat, eyes narrowing.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis's eyes narrow despite himself at the Fool's words.
Need-Reason snarls death to them all.
Elizabeth looks around. "What they don't know is less likely to hurt them."
Lauren smiles wryly. "Hey, you give out your address to whoever you want. Just don't fall for the 'Lank Shark' bit, 'kay?"
In the Windy Spot, Song Weaver growls softly, her eyes flicking briefly to Echen.
Grips-Tightly says "My Mum used to tell a story about a bedouin and his camel. I fear it's a bit long to repeat here though."
Dave says, ~The humans are very many. And they fear what they don't understand. And when they fear, they kill.~
Deadly-Eyes snarls softly. ~ *All* humans... ~
Grips-Tightly says "Rather like us..."
Rain Walker's dark eyes cast themselves on the Fianna this time. He snarls quietly ~You put us all in danger, who would risk the Veil before those who are not Garou. They fear us, and fear makes them dangerous.~ With a last look before he turns back to the centre he rumbles under his breath ~Whether they are stupid homid, or clever Worldbender.~
Ayat rumbles, but says nothing.
In the Windy Spot, Song Weaver says, ~Take No Action Allowing a Caern To Be Violated.~
Need-Reason follows Rain-Walker's gaze, and awaits a response.
Brian doesn't seem particularly inclined to respond to Eligio, nor does he seem particularly impressed by the Uktena's little tantrum.
Near the Pool, Justice says "Well, gee, the secret's sort of out, but I'm pretty sure they won't really *do* anything to the Caern. They're so nice."
Scents-Darkness growls. ~The lifeblood of the Mother runs through caerns. To risk one is to risk everything.~
Maury turns amber eyes onto Rain Walker.
Ayat snarls incoherently.
Deadly-Eyes's eyes narrow even more, and she gives Brian a critical glance, before averting her gaze quickly, going back to how she was.
Near the Fire Pit, Red Sky's gaze moves from Fool to Rain Walker, angry, baleful, intense.
On the northern curve, Rik glances at Red Sky.
Need-Reason raises up now. If any caern in any land is threatened, never hesitate to aid your brothers.
Elizabeth says "No action, Song-Weaver-Yuf?" She looks around the caern. "What about the actions that cause the violations of this Caern that you could do? Doesn't hatred let the Wyrm in? Doesn't division break a caern's people? Is it any action, or just big actions like letting a Formor past the wards?""
Elizabeth's brows move closer together, and she phrases that as an honest question.
Dave says, ~I am no great warrior. But every drop of my blood would be spilt before I'd let intruders at a Caern. They'd advance, over my corpse.~
In the Windy Spot, Song Weaver growls, ~No Action that may violate the caern.~
On the Earth Mound, Anubis looks over at Elizabeth and narrows his eyes thoughtfully.
Grips-Tightly pulls back his teeth in a smile.
Jenny turns her eyes on Justice when she mentions vampires, her face expressionless. She shivers lightly when Megan growls.
Need-Reason turns, surprised at Dave-wolf's intensity, and a yip of approval escapes him almost unconsciously.
Dave is standing, his ruff erect, angry and determined.
Matt reaches up and scratches at the hair behind his ear.
Elizabeth nods at Song Weaver, and rocks back on her heels. She leans a hand on David's shoulder and nods quietly.
In the Windy Spot, Song Weaver inhales deeply, her ribcage filling before she fairly bellows out this last. ~Eat Not of the Flesh of Our Kin, the Wolves and the Apes.~
Brian shifts, slightly, to lift a hand to rake back through his hair; he stops himself abruptly, a wince of pain creasing his face, and quickly returns his grip to his walking stick.
Near the Pool, Justice says "Eat what you kill, or are we no better than humans who hunt for sport, nailing heads to a wall, and throwing away the carcasses?"
PreyBreaker turns his head slightly to Dave. Your body would not lie bloodless and alone. I too would join you in defense of this or any caern.
Ali settles back on her haunches with no indecision. Her muzzle lifts; she waits.
Deadly-Eyes barks softly. ~ It says nothing of wolf in the Litany. ~
Lauren says "I'll take 'Interpretive Litany' for five hundred please, Alex."
In the Windy Spot, Song Weaver says, ~Kill only what you need. Kill only when there is need.~
On the southern curve, Jumps comes in from the woodland to the south.
On the southern curve, Jumps heads into the center.
Jumps has arrived.
In the Windy Spot, Song Weaver says, ~You would not kill your brother without need, and after you would mourn his loss, not eat of him.~
Maury flicks an ear at Song Weaver in agreement with Megan.
Jumps finds a place to sit.
Brian lifts his head slightly. "Read it right, or don't read it at all, please. We've been through this before, I think."
Dave says, ~The flesh of man is tainted. Eating it leads one closer to the Wyrn.~
FireBeneathSkin rumbles angrily. ~Who would eat of humans might just as well eat of his own kin.~
Near the Pool, Justice steps away from the Pool, looking a bit relieved. She nods at Red Sky.
Near the Pool, Justice heads into the center.
Justice has arrived.
In the Windy Spot, Song Weaver snorts at Echen. ~I read it as I was taught it.~
PreyBreaker cocks his head curiously. It surely can't taste good. Bunch of ~preservatives~ and ~ho-ho's.~
In the Windy Spot, Song Weaver moves toward the center, slowly taking the shape of her birth.
In the Windy Spot, Song Weaver contorts and blurs as she is transformed.
In the Windy Spot, Song Weaver heads into the center.
Song Weaver has arrived.
Need-Reason growls never to stop in the fight simply to eat. Let such flesh be the Raven's feast.
Song Weaver shifts into Lupus form.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis looks over at Red Sky, expression somewhat wary. He is obviously surprised that the Wendigo was chosen to be Master of the Rite for this Moot.
Maury observes, ~Then we are incorrectly taught, or you were. We shall ask it of our Waykeeper, perhaps, but not now.~ The latter is said with a glance up at Brian.
On the northern curve, Rik frowns.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis's head turns toward Maury. He considers something for a moment, nods to himself, and then looks back over toward Red Sky.
Rain Walker turns his eyes to the fire pit as well.
Near the Fire Pit, Red Sky straightens and takes a step forward, back into the non-shadow around the fire. His eyes sweep over the crowd gathered at the Caern; none escape the accusation, the rage, that carries in the amber. ~Red Sky is asked to call the Inner Sky, to gather Mighty Buffalo and Wise Magpie to this place for this Moot.~
Grips-Tightly wonders to himself what he's being accused of.
Maury turns to watch Red Sky, ears perking forward at his words.
Need-Reason bristles larger, not wishing anyone to think the less of him.
Flying Bear contorts and blurs as he is transformed.
Flying Bear shifts into Crinos form.
Near the Fire Pit, Red Sky's gaze settles briefly on Justice, Rain Walker, and Echen, each in turn. ~You do not respect the ways. You do not remember our allies. You do not respect the Wheel. I will not call the spirits for this Moot. I will call them for this place.~ With that, he takes a smooth step backwards and tosses his spear aside; the blade of ice vanishes into a fine mist as the Wendigo begins a long, low chant.
PreyBreaker lowers his head slightly, glancing over at Justice-rhya as if to gauge her reaction.
Justice tilts her chin up, silent but angry. She slips into a form well-suited for such anger.
Justice contorts and blurs as she is transformed.
Justice shifts into Crinos form.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis closes his eyes, looking somewhat worried, but very, very tired most of all.
Matt looks up at Vel and asks quietly, "What's the difference?"
Deadly-Eyes's eyes narrow at Red Sky, but she makes no other visible reaction, simply watching him.
Bearclaw watches the moot in silence, glancing briefly at Flying Bear as he comes back to consciousness.
Maury glances at Matt, briefly, before turning back respectfully towards Red Sky.
Need-Reason glares around for crescent moons. Why can none answer this?
Near the Fire Pit, Red Sky's eyes glaze as the chant rises; he casts a fistful of snow into the flames of the fire, and, immediately, a bitter, cutting wind blasts across the clearing. Another moment, and the Crinos drops a mixed handful of long grass blades and blue-grey feathers into the fire.
On the northern curve, Rik shrugs. Perhaps he is right.
Ayat has connected.
FireBeneathSkin has connected.
You sense that you have a new +mail message from Adrian Black in folder 'main'.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis's eyes reopen, and he watches Red Sky whip up the tempest he can feel growing. Oddly, he seems not to mind so much -- almost as though he expects it and is finally facing something he has long waited for.
Velasquez shrugs, answering quietly. "He thinks we messed up the place, and that we're a bunch o' losers, an' figured he'd let us know 'fore he started this."
Hank shivers slightly, pulling his jacket tighter and listening to Vel.
Matt shrugs indifferently. "Oh."
Deadly-Eyes's ears go back to protect them from the freezing winds, her fur ruffling this way and that.
Ayat rumbles, and his fur stands, bushing out somewhat.
Maury merely presses a little against Brian's side.
Near the Fire Pit, A low thrumming, felt before it is heard, begins to rock the earth all around the Caern; it is the noise of a thousand hoofbeats on the wind. The rumble is answered by another blast of wind, this one coming as a shriek of bitter fury. Above the cacophony comes the noise of rushing wings tearing at the air.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis gathers himself and shifts. The shift is slower and more laborious than usual for him.
Need-Reason raises his ears gleefully at the familiar presences.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis contorts and blurs as he is transformed.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis shifts into Crinos form.
Near the Fire Pit, Red Sky's expression resolves into a snarl; his chant continues as he draws talons across his wrist, spilling bright crimson blood into the fire. The rumble, the shriek of winds, the coursing of wings all continue, reaching a crescendo.
PreyBreaker's fur bristles with the excitment and the very power in the air, ears pricking high on his lupine head.
Justice tilts her head back in a Rage-filled Howl of welcome to the spirits, shattereing the air with the full force ofher Wyld calling.
Deadly-Eyes's ruff goes up, her whole body tense, a low whine escaping her. She shivers at Justice's howl.
FireBeneathSkin follows a fractional instant after Justice, the same weird two-toned howl as before ringing out in a cry of pure emotion to Buffalo, Magpie, and the one who goes missing.
Song Weaver stands very still watching Red Sky, her eyes narrowed against the wind.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis does not howl. He watches Red Sky, not at all sure what is, or will be, responding to the summons.
Grips-Tightly stands, uneasy.
Velasquez rubs his hands together for warmth for a moment, before sticking them in his coat pockets.
Ayat watches the air around him, listening, shivering in the manner of one who does not quite understand... waiting for what is to come.
A concussion comes above the table stone, strong enough to lift Crinos off their feet and toss them aside like twigs. Pulsing, thrumming energy courses through the clearing: bright brown eyes that speak of unfettered strength, a blue-winged shape that hovers above, and, behind both, a shape of wind and cold, a bloody-taloned beast of the storm, it's eyes a baleful, glittering black.
Need-Reason thrusts his muzzle high, starting a howl of Might. This fuels a shift, and his tone lowers (faltering only slightly) as he takes the war-form
Need-Reason contorts and blurs as he is transformed.
Need-Reason shifts into Crinos form.
Grips-Tightly pages: This is unusual at a moot, yes?
On the Earth Mound, Anubis is pushed backward from the explosion of air at the center, rocked even from as far out as he is.
Justice rolls, still howling, she scrambles to her feet as soon as possible, snarling at the foreign spirit behind those of the Caern.
Deadly-Eyes flattens to the ground instintively at the blast, howling against the sound without thinking.
Grips-Tightly rolls back, and steadies himself near the pool.
Grips-Tightly heads southeast to the pool.
Grips-Tightly has left.
Justice's talons clutch at the ground, anchoring her.
Maury staggers, despite the extra balance of her two extra legs. Her muzzle dips politely towards the trio above the table stone.
Need-Reason's howl cuts dead as the wind knocks all breath from his lungs and he flies backward.
On the northern curve, Rik crouches and pulls his coat around himself in protection.
Elizabeth ducks down, wrapping her hands over her head as her forehead touches the ground.
FireBeneathSkin loses his footing and is thrown backward, but flips upright, and falls silent at the presence of the third spirit, recognizing it from a glimpse, once and long ago.
Song Weaver scrabbles to right herself, staying low to the ground she watches and listens as best she can.
Lauren tumbles against Jumps, caught in the motion of leaning toward the younger Garou just as the shock waves hit.
Dave goes flat to the ground and is still blown back...he howls his welcome to the Spirits even as he slips.
Need-Reason heads north, away from the center of the Wheel.
Need-Reason has left.
Near the Fire Pit, Red Sky crouches against the blast, his eyes bright and focused, fully, on the spirits. ~Mighty Buffalo!~ he cries out, voice ragged with effort. ~Wise Magpie! Fierce Wendigo!~ He straightens again as the blast subsides, though the cruel wind does not relent. ~Red Sky calls you to this place, to bring it your blessings.~
Ayat drops flat an instant before the shockwave strikes, and a rumble begins in his throat at the sight of the unfamiliar spirit- a rumble which is swiftly turned to welcome.
Jumps rolls over from the double impact.
PreyBreaker is pitched back, stumbling into FireBeneathSkin before finding himself flat to the ground, watching with intensity.
Dave contorts and blurs as he is transformed.
Dave shifts into Crinos form.
Deadly-Eyes barks sharply in surprise, then unleashes a long howl of welcome to Wendigo.
FireBeneathSkin shivers, but looks as if his memories were affirmed. Wendigo, yes. He oufs as Dave knocks the wind out of him.
Hank falls backwards from the blast, lying stunned for a few moments before getting to his feet again, slowly, shaking his head to clear it.
Jumps scrabbles with her claws for a hold.
Velasquez scrambles back to a crouch after being knocked back by the blast, his attention focused on the spirits at the center.
On the northern curve, Need-Reason tumbles along a short way before regaining his feet and turning back with lips curled in an angry snarl.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis looks unsurprised at the third spirit's presence, and his eyes watch the spirit of wind and ice intently.
Brian is knocked backwards, into the undergrowth, and groans quietly as he flails against the shockwave. Slowly, he staggers back to his feet, a hand clutched to his side, the other forcing the walking stick beneath him again.
Matt shakes his head, as he finds himself flat on his back, in the mud. He cuses softly about his jacket getting soaked again.
Dave digs his claws fiercely into the earth, and watches in awe, squinting against the wind.
On the northern curve, Rik quietly exclaims "whuff."
Song Weaver grins as she recognizes the truth of Red Sky's words. Her body still pressed into the ground.
FireBeneathSkin's cry of greeting this time bears no trace of any second voice; only the sound of a throat once racked by smallpox escapes to greet the cannibal spirit of the far north, the guardian of his Siberian cousins.
The dark brown eyes narrow, the winged shape climbs higher; the form of ice and snow simply howls its fury across the clearing. /We are angry, Shaman,/ come the voices of all three together. /We come, but do not call upon us again until this place is respected as your people respected it, long ago./
Jumps stumbles back several more feet before she can halt her momentum.
PreyBreaker's eyes and ears express fully his wonder and true awe, humbled yet fully proud of his Garou heritage.
Elizabeth cautiously peels her hands away from her head and lifts it slightly, shielding her eyes with on arm from the blown debris.
On the northern curve, Need-Reason gives Rik a nod, both embarrassed and angry, and forges back to the vicinity of the Table.
Ayat shivers fearfully, and clamps himself to the ground, tail drooping in abject submission.
On the northern curve, Need-Reason heads into the center.
Need-Reason has arrived.
Elizabeth says simply. "Change."
FireBeneathSkin watches Wendigo and the others, steadily, listening.
Dave has disconnected.
Matt , seeing the large spirit form, decides that on his back is a safe place to stay for the moment.
Deadly-Eyes howls miserably, huddling against the ground as if chastened.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis's eyes narrow somewhat, looking displeased but unsurprised again.
Near the Pool, Grips-Tightly licks his lips.
Velasquez scowls, remaining motionless otherwise.
Near the Fire Pit, Red Sky laughs, the sound bitter, angry, frustrated. ~I will not, brother, sister, father.~ He waves a hand out over the fire, spilling more of his blood into the flames; abruptly, the wind fades to more tolerable levels, the ground stills, the noise ceases.
Maury bares her teeth, but not in a growl; she looks briefly at the brown eyes before her own eyes drop again.
Dave has connected.
Justice rises to her feet as the winds fade. She looks between Anubis and Brian, questions in her eyes, as well as anger.
The brown eyes flick to Maury before a flurry of breeze, snow, and tossed about debris hides all three spirit-shapes from view.
Lauren forgos on shifting out of her homid form, instead bracing herself in case of a second impact.
Maury squeezes her eyes shut as the breeze kicks up briefly. As soon as her eyes pop open again, she's turning, looking for Brian with a concerned whine.
FireBeneathSkin watches the swirling cloud hide the spirits from sight, and sighs faintly, his sound almost wistful.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis's eyes watch the cloud swirl, tuning out the rest of the crowd.
Bearclaw remains silent, close to the ground.
Jumps stands warily, watching the cloud.
Need-Reason continues to stand, albeit realxing a little, whilst his scowl flicks about looking for someone to answer this.
Brian hobbles back forward, to his place next to Maury, his weight still leant, heavily, on the birch staff. He glances from Justice to Anubis to Red Sky and back to Justice, then drops his gaze and lifts his shoulder, his left shoulder, in a shrug.
Ayat rumbles in the back of his throat unconsciously, never having felt any spirit so palpably before.
Dave moves so he's sitting again, and waits.
Song Weaver lifts herself to a stand. Her eyes seek Red Sky, though held respectfully low.
On the northern curve, Rik looks around. "Never had a moot like this in Chicago..." he murmurs.
Justice turns from Echen, dissatisfied. She looks at Anubis, waiting.
Near the Fire Pit, Red Sky closes his fist around his bleeding wrist and takes a step back from the fire, returning to the shadows of the trees. His eyes are triumphant, wild, but still glint with a kiss of unfettered anger.
Deadly-Eyes curls her tail around her body, ears back, not moving from her flattened position.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis's eyes linger on the table stone for a while before he bends to the ground, lifts up a large bone. Unlike all those before, this one is charred, blackened
A vague presence can still be felt, the spirit-forms of the three lingering above the table stone.
Maury edges herself over to Brian, staring up at him in concern.
FireBeneathSkin watches anubis, and blinks.
Velasquez mutters softly, "Course maybe then again, he's gotta point..."
Elizabeth rises to an upright kneeling position.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis holds the bone up in one crinos claw, but does not yet break it. ~Tonight, you have seen the gifts of our collective selfishness. With this bone, I call an end to such idiocy.~ His eyes flash, suddenly angry.
Deadly-Eyes's ears prick upright, giving Anubis a puzzled look.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis says, ~This bone was taken from the home of one of our Kin, far to the east of this place. It had been burned to the ground by agents of the Wyrm, undetected by the complacent Garou who tended a caren near them.~
Brian turns, slowly, to face the mound full-on; he crouches, with visible pain and effort, next to Maury.
Justice places her pawhands on her hips, waiting to hear sense from the Keeper.
Ayat whines softly in the back of his throat.
Maury nudges Brian, not gently. Sit.
Song Weaver turns her body to face Anubis on the mound. She listens closely to what he has to say.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis, in a rather unprecedented gesture, steps down from the mound and into the crowd.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis heads into the center.
Anubis has arrived.
FireBeneathSkin steps back, allowing Anubis free and clear passage.
Deadly-Eyes lifts her head to follow Anubis's passage.
Flying Bear grimaces slightly, in some pain. He watches Anubis.
Hope skips across Elizabeth's face and she mouths the word "Maybe...."
Brian laces his fingers into Maury's ruff, his eyes on Anubis; with a hint more effort, he seats himself beside his packmate.
Jumps sits, watching Anubis
PreyBreaker watches Anubis' movements carefully, glance shifting between Justice and Anubis, gauging.
Anubis still holds the bone, unbroken. ~The spirits have spoken to us. They are displeased, and will remain so; remain so until we again listen to those words handed down by our ancestors. I am the Keeper of the Ways, and I say that the WAYS HAVE BEEN BROKEN!~ He howls this last out at the top of his lungs.
Maury turns back to Anubis just before he howls, and at the sound flinches back against Brian.
Ayat shudders, and his head droops, his ears flattening submissively at the sound.
Justice nods, agreeing with Anubis.
On the western curve, Therru works her way free of the dense treeline to the west.
Flying Bear clenches his jaw.
Deadly-Eyes jumps, startled, to her feet, backing away a few paces to watch with flattened ears and tucked tail.
Jumps lowers her head and tail.
FireBeneathSkin growls, hearing Anubis's words and agreeing with them, and draws himself upward, knowing he has nothing to fear.
FireBeneathSkin contorts and blurs as he is transformed.
FireBeneathSkin shifts into Crinos form.
Flying Bear listens.
Anubis's eyes rake over the group. ~None of us are free from blame in this. All have done wrong, passing it off with different little excuses. This is no longer acceptable.~ He steps toward the stone, and gestures around him. ~The Veil shall not be lifted.~ ~Thou shalt take no action that may cause a Caern to be violated.~
Brian doesn't budge at the sound of the howl. Perhaps he's still braced from the concussion of earlier.
On the western curve, Therru blinks.
Near the Fire Pit, ShadowDancer heads into the center.
ShadowDancer has arrived.
On the western curve, Stormcrow works his way free of the dense treeline to the west.
On the western curve, Therru looks up at Stormcrow.
On the southern curve, Dylan comes in from the woodland to the south.
On the southern curve, Dylan heads into the center.
Dylan has arrived.
FireBeneathSkin listens.
On the western curve, Stormcrow lays a hand against Therru's side and nudges her toward the center, moving to join his packmates in silence.
On the western curve, Stormcrow heads into the center.
Stormcrow has arrived.
Dylan makes his way in and tries to find a place out of the way.
Justice turns to regard Stormcrow, then turns back to Anubis.
Anubis makes a large sweep with his bone. ~This caern will DIE if we do not act in accordance with the most ancient laws of our people. Remember that the next time one of you decides you are better than Gaia's word.~ He pauses for a moment, eyes watching the faces around him.
On the western curve, Therru follows Stormcrow, perhaps a little reluctantly.
On the western curve, Therru heads into the center.
Therru has arrived.
On the southern curve, Michael Powers comes in from the woodland to the south.
On the southern curve, Michael Powers shifts into Glabro form.
On the southern curve, Michael Powers heads into the center.
Michael Powers has arrived.
Deadly-Eyes glances over at Stormcrow briefly, returning her look back at Anubis.
On the southern curve, Andrew comes in from the woodland to the south.
Dylan listens to Anubis, his eyes wide and dark.
Anubis steps over to Maury and crouches before her. ~You are, I think, concerned with the absence of many of the Elders.~ It is a simple statement, quiet enough in comparison to his recent shout to be remarkable of itself.
Scents-Darkness listens, stock-still except for a slowly-twitching ear.
On the southern curve, Andrew heads into the center.
Andrew has arrived.
Bearclaw lifts her muzzle slightly as Stormcrow approaches, but otherwise shows no more notice of that than of anything else.
Brian watches the Waykeeper silently, measuring.
+weather
Currently on this calm and chilly fall late afternoon in the general St. Claire area, it is 38 degrees Fahrenheit (3.3 degrees Celsius). The wind is coming from the west-southwest at 4.1 mph. The ground is wet. Skies are hazy with a small chance of precipitation.
Maury twitches an ear. It is not mine to speak of, Waykeeper. They are not here. I am only what I am. It is not mine to speak.
Andrew merges with crowd, with a greeting to Elizabeth and Lauren.
Elizabeth flicks a glance at Andrew, smiles slightly, and then turns back to the center.
Near the Fire Pit, Tommy heads into the center.
Tommy has arrived.
Matt, pretty sure it's safe again, sits up and then stands. He watches the goings on silently, brushing mud from places as he does.
From afar, Michael Powers hugs quietly.
Rain Walker has connected.
Sepdet's eyes dart like skittering sparks from face to face and back to Anubis, her own face cold and ashen, gray etched stone.
You paged Michael Powers with 'Wow. I had to go pick up people during all this and missed most of what's happened so far. Grrr. Wendigo arrived. Anubis won't break the bone.'.
Ayat watches Anubis, scarcely moving.
Anubis stands. ~An interesting answer, to be sure,~ he says. ~The Elders of this Sept belong with the Sept. The Elders of the Caern belong with the Caern. And the Elders of the Tribes must watch over their cubs.~ He looks around. ~Rest assured, your Elders are not gone for the sheer amusement of it, nor from lack of responsibility.~ Again he holds the charred bone over his head. ~A dream visited me two nights past. A dream of ice, death, and _something_ lurking and watching us. Rest assured, my Septmates, it watches, and it will come for us. And as you sit and bemoan your fates, and wonder where your Elders are, we look for things to prevent before they can reach us.~
Velasquez looks up at Anubis at his mention of the dream.
Anubis looks over the group one more time as he heads back for the mound. ~The watcher in the ice has not been found. Nor has the keeper of the jars. Some of you know of these things, others do not. But they are out there, and we are working to protect this place. Respect those above you in station, and those worthy of such respect will return it.~
Anubis walks back to the mound, looking tired and haggard once again.
Anubis heads northwest to the mound of earth.
Anubis has left.
Bearclaw lifts her head, slightly startled, her gaze fixed on Anubis.
Near the Fire Pit, Red Sky rumbles, from his place. ~It is already here. Not among us, but here.~
Dave nods at the mention of the nightmare.
Near the Pool, Grips-Tightly frowns in puzzlement.
Deadly-Eyes's expression is puzzled.
Jumps looks confused.
Justice growls deep in her throat, glaring at Anubis, then Red Sky.
FireBeneathSkin inclines his head in acknowledgment, poring over Anubis' words.
Need-Reason looks around, but with surly crinos puzzlement this time.
Stormcrow turns cold eyes on the Wendigo, ears twitching.
Dylan looks from Anubis to Red Sky, and back again, his gaze sad and somehow withdrawn.
Dave contorts and blurs as he is transformed.
Michael Powers nods at Anubis' last comment.
Dave shifts into Lupus form.
Therru listens, tilting her one large ear towards the speaker.
Maury lets out a very quiet whuff of relief as Anubis's attention leaves her.
Song Weaver tilts her head, puzzled as well.
Banestriker watches from a darkened corner of the Wheel in a sullen silence.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis looks over at Red Sky briefly, then toward Justice. He smashes the bone with on twist of his hand, and extends the pieces toward Justice, eyes flashing. ~You have something to say, perhaps.~
Need-Reason has disconnected.
Matt again looks to Velasquez and asks quietly, "You know what's going on?"
Velasquez shakes his head angrily. "No, an' it's pissin' me off."
Near the Fire Pit, Red Sky's lips twist in a tiny, almost satisfied smile; his form twists and blurs, losing mass to take his breed-shape.
Near the Fire Pit, Red Sky contorts and blurs as he is transformed.
:traces a jar's sign with one hand, still searching faces, with eyes restless as birds' feathers caught in the wind.
Sepdet traces a jar's sign with one hand, still searching faces, with eyes restless as birds' feathers caught in the wind.
Near the Fire Pit, Red Sky shifts into Lupus form.
Need-Reason has connected.
Justice climbs the Mound, snatching the bone with a snarl. She does not turn to the assembled Garou, keping her gaze on Anubis. ~If there is a threat, I will hear of it. You can keep Elder's counsel from the Sept, but not from the other Elders.~ She soves the bone back at Anubis and stalks off again.
Hank nods slightly at Vel's reply, and watches the others.
FireBeneathSkin watches his Elder, and keeps silence.
Maury looks at Justice as she speaks, and then she growls, brief and succinct statement of anger.
Bearclaw settles down again, gaze troubled as she watches Anubis.
PreyBreaker watches Justice's movements and listens carefully, his posture and expression one of support for his Elder, yet showing no disrespect for the other.
Brian smiles a faint, amused smile, and mutters something under his breath. He lifts his eyes towards Anubis, both hands now wrapped around his walking stick.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis takes the fragments back. ~There are threats, yes.~ He bends at the knees, and rests his arms upon them. ~They are, at present, very uncertain. It is not known if they are real or simply perceived. Dreams, Justice, and nothing more. Dreams of ice and falcons that befriend wolves and,~ he looks over at Red Sky, ~Wolf eyes in a snowstorm. None know what they mean, Fang, but something is watching, something is waiting. And as we sit here and bicker, nothing gets done, and no one is helped but possible enemies.~
Dylan listens intently.
Need-Reason exchanges meaningful glances with Fire Beneath the Skin and Prey Breaker at this mention of 'falcons' befriending wolves. . .
Near the Pool, Grips-Tightly sighs.
Brian runs his fingers through Maury's ruff, a silent gesture of support.
Dave watches Anubis, respectful...alert at the mention of dreams.
+finger Brian
Information for Brian:
Brian is connected.
Location: Center of the Great Wheel
Other Name(s): Echen Mac Conaill, also Mountainsong, to the Garou. Among humans he goes by his given name, Brian O'Flannery.
Race: Garou Sex: Male
Breed: Homid Auspice: Ahroun
Tribe: Fianna Rank: 2
Position: Fianna Righ; Alpha of Samhain; Child of Stag; Second Ahroun of the Sept; Grandchild of Fionn.
Info: A fierce and deadly warrior, proud, tenacious (some would say stubborn), and quick to anger, Echen leads the Fianna of the Wheel Renewed. The blood of the noblest of Garou heroes runs through his veins, eclipsing even the lineage of some of the Silver Fangs (Pure Breed 5), while the rise of the red planet heralded his birth. He displays a ready wit and roguish charm, and indulges, often, in the raucous ways of his tribe, but balances this with a near-constant striving to act honorably and uphold tradition, both Garou and Fianna. He has become increasingly dismayed, lately, with a number of things: the level of respect given to, and the reputation of, the Fianna among the other Garou of the Sept; the degree to which the Sept seems to be inclined to coddle and dote over cubs; the current political situation within the Sept, with newcomers being handed positions he's not certain they deserve, and the elevation in rank of Garou he perceives as untrustworthy; his own, and his pack's, seemingly poor reputation despite their recent bonding with Stag and their continued efforts, and successes, in teaching, tale-telling, questing, and battle.
l brian
Eyes of sparkling emerald green stand out from fine-wrought features set in a friendly, boyish cast. The fair skin of his face is clean-shaven, his youthful countenance contrasting against the worldly, expressive depth of those eyes to produce a gentle, appealing charm. Long, soft waves of black hair fall to his shoulders; a few errant locks stray across his forehead, and three longer braids, taken from the nape of his neck and beaded in gold at their ends, brush along his spine. His left ear is pierced twice, once to hold a thin gold hoop and again with a tiny gold Celtic cross. Not past his early twenties, he is solidly built over a fine-boned frame: a shadow over six feet tall with movements marked by an elegant, tireless grace.
A cotton dress shirt of deep crimson, rolled up at the sleeves and the collar unbuttoned, softens the firm muscular contours of his upper body. He wears a pair of loose fit black jeans, belted at the waist with braided leather and tucked into newish-looking grey leather moccasin boots.
Over his ensemble is a heavy brown leather duster, painted at the shoulders with faint patterns of green and gold. Gold beadwork hangs from sparse fringe decorating the left shoulder. From a black-dyed leather cord, worn around his throat, hang five black teeth, or maybe claws.
Justice shakes her muzzle, anger still high in her eyes, not dampened by the Keeper's words.
FireBeneathSkin nods to Need-Reason slowly, still listening to talk of birds and dreams.
Maury flicks an ear again at Anubis.
Therru looks briefly up at the sky, then returns her attention to the moot.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis's anger fades from his face. ~There is little that can be said of such dreams at this moment. They are there, they are worrisome, they are worth looking into. But a solid threat has not materialized. Yet.~ He stands again, and speaks in a slightly different intonation. ~Batrana Dracul, I fear, has no such excuse. I do not know where she is, but in her absence, I must speak.~
Elizabeth climbs up to her feet.
Maury's eyes narrow slightly.
Rain Walker flicks his eyes to Sepdet and mouths a silent question.
You sense Rain Walker is asking if these are your dreams?
On the Earth Mound, Anubis looks over the group. ~Kate has challenged Brian Echen of the Fianna. Echen, do you accept?~
Sepdet shakes her head regretfully at her teacher and gestures towards Anubis.
Andrew watches the locution with a blank expression. Dreams are dreams.
FireBeneathSkin looks down at Andrew with a slight smile of amusement, but says nothing.
Brian nods wordlessly, firmly.
Song Weaver's ears twitch as she thinks on the matter of dreams.
You whisper "His. I have only seen the falcon once, and it would not speak to me. Anubis-rhya gave me the dreams to help solve, and I have found him /no/ answers. gt;" to Rain Walker.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis looks over at Lara-Anne. ~Lara-Anne also has chosen to challenge.~ He gestures for her to speak.
On the eastern curve, Ilya makes his way out of the woods to the east.
On the eastern curve, Ilya heads into the center.
Ilya has arrived.
Therru looks over at Rain Walker and makes her way through the crowd to him, bumping lightly, hopefully against him.
Michael Powers nods quietly to Sepdet and listens.
Michael Powers senses "Sepdet is close enough for you to hear, though she's speaking to Eligio. ~No. His dreams. I have only seen the falcon once, and it would not speak to me. Anubis-rhya gave me the dreams to help solve, and I have found him /no/ answers.~"
Rain Walker whispers "In a week's time I will return to the Broken Pinnacle, to seek the Master of the Rites there. I would have him complete the teaching he started, to teach me the unfettered dreaming."
On the Earth Mound, Lara-Anne challenges Alex.
Long distance to Michael Powers: Sepdet calls you 'father'; Eligio is her only teacher alive, now that Seer is gone. :)
Michael Powers pages: OH...Can I go bap myself now? *sigh*
Rain Walker contorts and blurs as he is transformed.
Rain Walker ripples and changes, slipping into Glabro form.
On the Earth Mound, Alex accepts the challenge.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis looks then to Song Weaver. ~Song Weaver,~ he calls.
Ayat looks up at the mention of that name.
Song Weaver pads toward the Earth Mound. She turns and faces those gathered. ~For the past that we share, I choose to challenge Rain Walker-rhya for rank~.
Maury flattens her ears a little, growling very very softly.
Therru looks up at Song Weaver, ear and tail up.
Brian looks from Song Weaver to Rain Walker and back again, then merely rolls his eyes and focuses back on Anubis.
Near the Pool, Grips-Tightly watches this exchange.
Sepdet looks down at Therru and back to the other two of her dream-packmates, reluctance, then sad understanding, registered at the unusual challenge.
Dylan nods thoughtfully.
Eligio Sacateca turns his dark gaze on the Talon. His lips curl into a fmile and he nods formally. ~I accept, Song Weaver. The form of the challenge will be told when we meet again.~
Bearclaw's breath hisses out in a faint sigh and she shifts to lie down on her side.
Rik pages: WTF?
Eligio Sacateca hardly notices Brian's theatrics.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis looks over the group again. ~Are there others who would challenge?~
Song Weaver bobs her head in silent acceptance and returns to he place at the center.
Rik pages: Or is this a secret thing?
Justice continues to listen to the words from the Mound, her expression remaining, if not angry, disgruntled.
Justice goes home.
Justice has left.
Eligio Sacateca rests a thick-nailed hand against Therru's shoulder.
MoonMist has connected.
You paged Rik with 'The Who Dreams the Dreamers plot. We are all packmates, spiritually, after bearing the souls of another pack (long dead) when we dreamed of their old battles and ended up fighting their old foe regrown in its strength. Although different in tribe and auspice in this life, the bond we share now makes auspice and tribe less relevant.'.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis nods. ~The Garou have, since the beginning of our kind, taken a time during the moot to allow those who wish to to speak unhindered. Such is the right of the bone.~ He holds the bone fragments up. ~Stormcrow-yuf, you wished to speak.~
Elizabeth hunts around the wolves with her eyes, but then shakes her head in apparent dissatisfaction.
Rik pages: Aaaaah. Merci.
Near the Fire Pit, Red Sky remains a silent presence by the fire.
Stormcrow nods curtly and steps up to the mound, taking the bone respectfully from teh Waykeeper.
Stormcrow heads northwest to the mound of earth.
Stormcrow has left.
Dylan watches Stormcrow gravely.
On the Earth Mound, Stormcrow says, ~As there are apparently matter the Elders need to discuss, and at least one Elder who ought to be introduced to his fellows, I call the Elders to Moot. Before this Moon has passed it's course I ask that the Council beneath the Story Tree.~
From afar, Song Weaver grins. If I can't challenge someone I .Really. respect, I can at least challenge someone I should have challenged 400 years ago. (:
On the Earth Mound, Anubis nods, apparently much in agreement.
MoonMist glances about the wheel. Her gaze comes to rest upon Dylan. One of her eyebrows shoot up in curiosity or surprise as she studies him for several seconds.
MoonMist contorts and blurs as she is transformed.
On the Earth Mound, Stormcrow returns the bone to Anubis, ~My thanks, Anubis-yuf.~
On the Earth Mound, Stormcrow heads into the center.
Stormcrow has arrived.
MoonMist shifts before your eyes, a blur of rippling motion, slipping into Homid form.
Brian lifts his eyes to Anubis again.
PreyBreaker's glaze slightly as he sits fully back on his haunches. ears wilting just a tad.
In the shadows, Banestriker watches Stormcrow with silent, if somewhat sullen, agreement.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis holds out the bone again. ~Elizabeth.~ he says.
Elizabeth walks up to the mound and takes the bones tentatively.
Elizabeth heads northwest to the mound of earth.
Elizabeth has left.
Ayat sighs, continuing to watch.
You sense that you have a new +mail message from Anubis in folder 'main'.

Message: 50/50 in folder main Received: Sun Dec 18 17:25:23 1994
From: Anubis
To: elders (global mail alias), officers (global mail alias), and wizards (global mail alias)
Subject: Elder Council
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In view of the fact that The Spirits Think We Suck and The Natives Are Restless and Weird Shit is Going On, Stormcrow brought up the idea of having a long-belated council. Sounds smart to me. Let's hear good times for people, can we? SC, you want to be in charge of picking a time since it was your idea? Best times for me are Wednesday and Sunday evenings. Saturday and Sunday afternoons are OK but less so.
--Anubis
Keeper of the Ways, Member of Crossing and Harbinger
Near the Pool, Grips-Tightly moves closer, in order to hear better.
Near the Pool, Grips-Tightly heads into the center.
Grips-Tightly has arrived.
Need-Reason gets an alarmed expression, staring straight ahead. Stormcrow |Wizards==Were-crustaceans.
On the Earth Mound, Elizabeth says "I have only a question Anubis-rhya. For those of us who are young and confused and are not told the workings of the elders ways. The Wendigo had been banned from this Caern by word of the alpha last moot. Tonight a Wendigo opened the sky for us. How are we to treat the Wendigo now? Also, You say we must be ready for something dark that may befall us. Can you tell us simply, in cub terms, what we are supposed to do?"
On the Earth Mound, Elizabeth hands Anubis the bones and hurries down the mound again.
On the Earth Mound, Elizabeth heads into the center.
Elizabeth has arrived.
Maury eyes Elizabeth. They were not banned. He gave them welcome.
Maury corrects herself. He gave them leave to stay.
Elizabeth looks at Maury. "I did not understand many of that night's events, and was not sure what was resolved."
On the western curve, Oaken works his way free of the dense treeline to the west.
On the western curve, Oaken heads into the center.
Oaken has arrived.
Elizabeth turns to look up at Anubis for more information.
Oaken slides to an abrupt halt
Grips-Tightly looks up and nods to Oaken.
Velasquez nods to his arriving packmate.
Bearclaw shifts a bit closer to her packmates.
Deadly-Eyes glances over and gives her tribemate a soft wurf of greeting.
Hank looks over at Oaken, and grins.
Andrew has disconnected.
Dave seems distracted...but spares a glance to Oaken-rhya.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis takes the bone back. ~I do not know,~ he says, looking over at Red Sky, ~Why Red Sky-rhya was asked to open the Inner Sky tonight, and frankly was surprised. But as Maury says, the Alpha welcomed them to stay as guests.~ After a pause, ~As for the fear of what may be approaching, I give you this counsel: Watch for it. Do not watch your brothers and sisters for how they stray from your expectations, but watch yourself for fear of it getting ahold of you first. Be careful of what you say, and to whom, outside the confines of this ring of trees. Watch for those who might do this place harm, whther intentional or incidental. Dwell not on what you think is foolishness in others until you have walked in their place.~
Andrew has connected.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis turns slightly, and stretches the bone toward Echen. ~Brian Echen.~
Red Sky does not comment, his shoulders simply rippling in an impassive, lupine shrug.
Brian rises, with more than a little effort and pain, and hobbles up to the mound using his walking stick as support.
Brian heads northwest to the mound of earth.
Brian has left.
Maury chuffs quietly to Red Sky.
Stormcrow lowes a hand to scratch idly at Bearclaw's shoulders.
Dave has disconnected.
On the Earth Mound, Brian takes the pieces of bone in one hand and turns back to the gathering at large. "Um. Two quick things, really. First, since Grandmother Dragon decided not t' grace us with her presence tonight, I thought I'd announce that Flyin' Bear is Fostern rank." He pauses, a small smile quickening in his face. "Ye may now all call him Ankle-Biter."
Dave has connected.
Bearclaw lifts her gaze to Stormcrow.
On the Earth Mound, Brian corrects himself hastily. "Or, rather, Ankle-Biter-rhya, for th' most part."
Michael Powers grins.
Stormcrow gives a sharp, loud howl of pride for his packmate's victory.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis nods quietly to himself.
PreyBreaker's eyes unglaze and he shifts, lifting his muzzle to send upward a congratulartory howl, clear and bright.
Bearclaw nudges Flying Bear with her nose, gaze shining, though she remains silent.
Flying Bear says, ~Especially if you want to know how I got the name..~
Flying Bear bears long, fanged teeth.
Ayat stays silent, listening.

@doing Facing Phoenix, grasping at stars
Set.
Need-Reason stands tall, and grimly approving. His eyes drop as Flying-Bear-rhya's gaze crosses his.
On the Earth Mound, Brian's eyes move to Rain Walker. "Second, I'd like t' take a second t' thank Eligio of th' Uktena, for all his thoughtfulness and kindness in makin' sure I always feel welcome, here. Sendin' salutations through my friends is a kind, generous thing that just should not go unnoticed." He even manages to keep a straight face through all this, though, rather hastily, he hands the bones back to Anubis.
Eligio Sacateca snorts.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis takes the bones back. ~Are there any others who would speak?~ he asks.
Therru looks from Eligio to Brian, confused.
On the Earth Mound, Brian grips his walking stick tightly, and hobbles back to his place beside Maury.
Song Weaver tilts her head, confused, the sarcasm lost on her.
On the Earth Mound, Brian heads into the center.
Brian has arrived.
Oaken cocks an ear Eligio-wards.
Maury steps forward. I would, if I may.
Banestriker looks between Echen and the mentioned Garou, looking confused. And not looking pleased at being confused.
PreyBreaker has disconnected.
Maury contorts and blurs as she is transformed.
Maury shifts into Homid form.
draw card
TarotDeck pages: You just drew Six of Cups
On the Earth Mound, Anubis waits a few beats to see if any others wish to speak.
Eligio Sacateca does not break the right of the bone to respond though. He simply smiles, his suspicions confirmed.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis catches Maury's glance and holds the bone fragments toward her.
Maury heads northwest to the mound of earth.
Maury has left.
Therru resigns herself to being confused.
Jumps sighs.
Long distance to Michael Powers and Eligio Sacateca: Sepdet snorts. She just looked down in Sep's tarot card pouch to glance at the top card on her deck. Six of Cups. Remembrance of childhood days, simpler, more innocent times now gone. Irony.
Need-Reason's great fist falls to his runes-pouch, but in this form he is too restless to give too much thought to the night's puzzles.
FireBeneathSkin contorts and blurs as he is transformed.
FireBeneathSkin shifts into Homid form.
On the Earth Mound, Maury walks up to accept them. "I have two things of my own. First," her gaze seeks out Song Weaver. "When I was taught the Litany, there were twelve points to it, and no mention of the eating of flesh. In the past year, there was added: Ye shall not eat of the flesh of humans. Tonight one spoke the inequity in this. We do not set the Litany for other Septs, other Garou; but I would ask it for ourselves: why do we not speak the Litany as it was spoken tonight, as: Ye shall not eat of the flesh of humans _or wolves_? Either it should not be spoken, or both should. I ... would ask for a change in the Litany."
Dave contorts and blurs as he is transformed.
From afar, to Eligio Sacateca and Sepdet, Michael Powers grins sadly. Yeah.
Dave shifts into Homid form.
On the Earth Mound, Maury runs out of breath. Under no sun now, the darkening of her skin is not visible, but the unease as she shifts her gaze away, to the ground, is clear.
Aleksei raises his eyebrows at this presumption.
Dylan nods, looking interested.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis's eyes narrow, but Maury still holds the bone.
Song Weaver chuffs soft agreement.
Deadly-Eyes growls softly, almost inaudibly.
Oaken's tail wags a little as his ears perk up. Sensible.
Matt laughs at something Vel says to him.
Therru looks a little ill at the subject, but puts her ear forward in agreement with Maury.
On the Earth Mound, Maury crosses the bones in front of her. "Either nothing or both. Of the other..." She pauses. Her head bends again. "I would ask a question, of the Elders. Justice-rhya spole of holding Elder's counsel from Elders. I would ask that, perhaps, when there is a danger or a suspicion of it that we, who are more likely to be here," she waves the bones at the crowd, "who are not Elders, be told how such should be met. Wolves who fly, and falcons who befriend wolves. I know of these, a little, but not how it is desired we react - to drive away? To kill? To welcome, these? I do not know, and I have not the wisdom of my Elders to know."
On the Earth Mound, Maury turns back to Anubis, eyes on the ground between her and the Strider. The bones are extended without her looking up.
Dave looks very thoughtful, but makes no sound.
Ayat yawns, dismissively, and flicks an ear.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis takes the bones back. ~I will address the second question first. As I have said, these dangers are none more than in the mind as yet. Other than the Wendigo arriving, none of the dreams show any sign of solidity. If you see something that fits a pattern, report it. Watch, think, and tell. Find a way to get another or several other opinions besides your own.~
Banestriker snarls soundlessly, lips pulling back to bare teeth. His silent deferral to the Bone is a struggle.
Andrew has disconnected.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis says, ~For now, be watchful.~
Bearclaw flicks an ear towards Stormcrow.
Stormcrow nods in silent agreement with the Keeper of the Ways.
Dylan nods.
Hank nods to Vel.
Matt grins at Vel again.
Dave inclines his head, agreement and respect.
Brian closes his eyes and bows his head forward, listening.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis's eyes narrow angrily. ~As for your second point, you are presumptuous, if not dishonorable, in asking to change the Litany. These things are not in the power of anyone in the earthly Realm to change, and it is our foolish bending of the Litany that has brought us to the pass which the spirits spoke of not an hour ago.~ He pauses for a long moment. ~However. Litany statement or not, the wolves are our greatest resource. If I hear of anyone having killed a wolf, their life stands forfiet unless they provide an extremely good reason. And any who eat of the flesh of wolves will be subject to Gaia's Vengeful Teeth. Am I clear?~
Grips-Tightly curls up in Lauren's lap.
Aleksei nods in firm approval.
On the Earth Mound, Maury lifts her head to look at Anubis.
Need-Reason looks assenting, even with his arms sternly folded.
Song Weaver flicks an ear, stepping forward to catch Anubis' attention.
On the Earth Mound, Maury does not move, still looking at Anubis.
From afar, Charlotte wants to know if JB's death got a mention :).
On the Earth Mound, Anubis gestures for Maury to step down, his point made.
Deadly-Eyes rises to a sitting position, looking at Anubis as well.
Bearclaw bares her teeth, snapping once at the air to her left.
Long distance to Charlotte: Sepdet is afraid we haven't howled for the dead. I know Alex, particularly, is still rather unglued by losing John.
Matt shifts his weight from foot to foot, another yawn escaping from him.
Elizabeth picks up her coat and shakes it firmly before putting it on.
On the Earth Mound, Maury's eyes are shining now, the grey reflecting moonlight. Her arms cross to brush the opposite shoulder. "Waykeeper, I have another thing to ask. Of you. As you will it, I shall ask later rather than now."
On the Earth Mound, Anubis nods. ~Very well.~ He turns toward the crowd again. ~Deadly-Eyes,~ he calls next.
Deadly-Eyes heads northwest to the mound of earth.
Deadly-Eyes has left.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis hands off the bone again.
On the Earth Mound, Deadly-Eyes contorts and blurs as she is transformed.
On the Earth Mound, Deadly-Eyes paws the air a little bit, managing to pull her mostly lupine body into an awkward two-legged stance.
On the Earth Mound, Maury bends her head at Megan as she moves back down the mound.
On the Earth Mound, Maury heads into the center.
Maury has arrived.
Eligio Sacateca's eyes narrow. He turns to look at Brian. The smile on his face now is guarded.
From afar, Charlotte tut tuts. Alex has a clasp he is meant to pass onto Megan. Is it over now ?
p charlotte=Heavens no.
You paged Charlotte with 'Heavens no.'.
Maury walks across to Brian and stands beside him, not sitting yet. The eyes return to Anubis, shining with that same reflected light and their own intensity.
From afar, Charlotte notes that Alex doesn't know he has to pass it onto Megan. All he knows is that it has some connection with the phrase "Stands by Friends" . . . and not many people know that SbF is JB's deed-name for Megan.
Brian stands stock-still, eyes closed, head bowed forward. He lifts a hand, absently, to Maury's shoulder.
On the Earth Mound, Deadly-Eyes takes the bone in a paw clumsily, nodding respectfully to Anubis and looking very uncomfortable. ~ To those of you who do not know me, I am Megan, Philodox cub of the Fianna. I wish to add to what Anubis-rhay said, from what I know of the Litany. ~ She takes a deep breath. ~ We may not eat of the flesh of humans because they are too close to the Wyrm, too corrupt. Eating of them taints us. Wolf are not like that, and it is why the Litany says as it does. ~
Dylan looks perturbed.
Brian's grip tightens, suddenly, on Maury's shoulder.
Maury's lips curve with a faintly mocking smile.
Song Weaver growls, anger creeping into her posture.
Banestriker bristles even more angrily, the fur of his ruff standing well on end.
Aleksei raises an eyebrow, but says nothing.
Stormcrow's eyes narrow and hackles rise along his back.
Bearclaw shifts listlessly, turning her gaze away from the mound and towards her fellow Garou. She watches reactions with a detatched interest.
From afar, Charlotte really ought to hit pit, as Charlotte would say. *wave*
Eligio Sacateca seems too intent to notice the Philodox's words, his forehead creased in thought.
On the Earth Mound, Deadly-Eyes flinches briefly at the response, taking another deep breath. ~ But, I have another thing, of the Litany, that I have noticed, and am disturbed by. The Veil shall not be Lifted. And yet I have been there as my...as those who outrank me blithely introduce me to mages. I wish to know, for my own knowledge, is this right? Should I react? ~
Dave seems a bit queasy at the whole notion of eating either.
On the northern curve, Rik smiles.
Need-Reason's ears come right forward, and he seems to nod slightly.
Aleksei folds his arms, considering Deadly-Eyes' words.
Ayat grunts.
Scents-Darkness's head swivels up as she focuses more fully on the Mound.
On the Earth Mound, Deadly-Eyes hands Anubis the bone back, looking a little abashed.
Jumps looks disturbed.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis looks over the group. ~This is a difficult question. There are mages who have helped this Sept in the past. There are others who have badly hurt it. "Feinan McClellan" and "Cornelius Snowdon" were very different, yet both were Mages.~ He pauses for a moment.
Aleksei growls softly, oblivious of his form.
Matt:sighs. "Even the keeper is under the spell of the warpers." Sigh.
Matt mavs.
:gives the cub on the Earth Mound a worried glance and shuts her eyes, grounding and focussing. She stifles a pained growl. The name of Snowdon doesn't help, evidently.
Sepdet gives the cub on the Earth Mound a worried glance and shuts her eyes, grounding and focussing. She stifles a pained growl. The name of Snowdon doesn't help, evidently.
Oaken regards Anubis with interest.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis continues. ~Elders or no, no one should ever be introduced as a Garou to any but Garou. Even those who are friends. Those who know of us and have been proven trustworthy can be contacted by a select few, but even those who are our friends know too much at the moment.
Grips-Tightly snorts at something.
Need-Reason tries to meet Anubis' gaze.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis looks over at Echen and Maury, then back to Deadly-Eyes. ~This is something the Elders will discuss in council; be certain of that.~
Brian mutters, absent, soft, "Who did th' introducin'?"
Maury arches an eyebrow at Anubis's glance at her, the faintly mocking smile reappearing.
Elizabeth examines her feet the whole time.
From the shadows, Banestriker growls in agreement.
On the Earth Mound, Deadly-Eyes nods her head uncomfortably to Anubis, then steels herself, walking back to the center.
On the Earth Mound, Deadly-Eyes heads into the center.
Deadly-Eyes has arrived.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis holds the bone in a new direction. ~Song Weaver.~
Ayat tenses.
Song Weaver pads to the mound of earth moving stiffly and with certain purpose.
Song Weaver heads northwest to the mound of earth.
Song Weaver has left.
Deadly-Eyes takes a seat by herself, slightly apart from everyone else.
On the Earth Mound, Song Weaver touches the bone fragments with her paw. She looks out over the crowd, her eyes finding Ayat. ~On the matter of wolves and their well-being; My brothers are under my protection. The areas in which they dwell, the Park, is my territory. Any who would walk there must gain my approval.~ Her stare turns icy, and her tone cold. ~Any who would harm my brothers must challenge me.~
Andrew studies the ground intently.
Ayat groans audibly, and looks away.
Elizabeth swallows and looks at Song Weaver. Her face twists in a frown.
Maury folds her arms over her chest. Her eyes don't even move to Song Weaver from Anubis, though she appears yet to be listening.
On the Earth Mound, Song Weaver glances up at Anubis, before making her way back to the center.
Stormcrow's ears twitch as he folds his arms over his chest.
On the Earth Mound, Song Weaver heads into the center.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis bends to pick up the bone fragments. ~Any others?~
Need-Reason drops his gaze.
Ayat turns away from Song Weaver and waits for things to progress.
Need-Reason shrugs wordlessly in Aleksei's direction.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis's weariness fully re-enters his face and he gestures toward Banestriker as he sits cross-legged atop the mound.
Banestriker unfolds from his position on the outskirts, growing upward as he stands.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis contorts and blurs as he is transformed.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis shifts into Lupus form.
Banestriker contorts and blurs as he is transformed.
Banestriker shifts into Crinos form.
Maury tilts her head. "Revel?"
On the Earth Mound, Anubis's shift is slow and gradual, reflecting his weariness.
Banestriker grips the hilt of his klaive with his gnarled, clawed hand. ~No. Not tonight.~
Aleksei nods, as if he'd expected that.
Maury nods a little, eyes going back to Anubis.
Banestriker snarls angrily, forestalling any further comment. ~There is a Blight in the city. Theurges, you know of this. It had been intended to cleanse it this night.~
Need-Reason snorts great clouds of steam into the cold night air, annoyance visible in every hair of his pelt.
Brian opens his eyes, focusing on Banestriker.
Aleksei nods again.
Bearclaw lifts her head slightly, letting her gaze fix on Banestriker.
Sepdet's frown is pulled to a wince as a blue spark dances off her knuckles. She looks questioningly at the Claw. /Had/ been?
Stormcrow whuffs, hooded brow creasing in curiosity.
Therru sits up and watches.
ShadowDancer perks up curiously. HAD been?
Banestriker stares at the vocal members of the audience, fixing them with his one eye. ~It has become known, from surveillance by members of the pack known as the Unbidden, that there is a new force in the Blight.~
Matt has disconnected.
Scents-Darkness stands, pacing a few steps but still listening.
Oaken looks over at Ilya before returning his gaze to Banestriker.
Jumps ears swivel forward.
Ayat shivers, wincing.
Dylan looks from Sepdet to Therru to Banestriker.
Banestriker continues, obviously not pleased in his own right, but steadfast in the decision, ~A fight in the city is dangerous enough. We will not risk the Veil until this new thing has been watched. Less than a week. Any longer would outweigh the benefit of waiting.~
Bearclaw glances up at her pack alpha.
p Justice=And we who have work wouldn't have come tonight, if we'd known it wasn't gonna happen. Sigh.
Sorry, that player is not connected.
Need-Reason leans down to mutter in Aleksei's ear.
Stormcrow gives Bearclaw a reassuring slap, muttering softly to her.
Aleksei glances up, eyebrows raised.
Banestriker growls out, low, ~The Great Hunt failed there once. We will not make mistakes there again.~ With this, he folds his arms across his chest, and stares up at Anubis on the mound.
p Banestriker=But... but... all of us logged on tonight to help... we had to make special arrangements to be here... agh.
Away message from Banestriker: I'm not really here; I'm watching the Steelers-Browns game RL. I should be here later.
Elizabeth looks relieved. "Organization. What a concept," she says quietly to herself.
p MAury=But... but... all of us logged on tonight to help... we had to make special arrangements to be here... agh.
You paged Maury with 'But... but... all of us logged on tonight to help... we had to make special arrangements to be here... agh.'.
Bearclaw nods her head in response to Stormcrow's question, leaning against his side lightly.
Need-Reason stares sullnly up at the full disk of the moon.
Brian bends down, stiffly, and presses his lips to the top of Maury's head. "I'm aimed home," he murmurs. "Got to get some fresh clothes and a shower."
On the Earth Mound, Anubis looks over the group. ~All of us have much to think on. Between now and then, I suggest that you all do so.~ Apparently finished, he steps down.
On the Earth Mound, Anubis heads into the center.
Anubis has arrived.
p SC=But... but... Therru and I logged on tonight to help... we had to make special arrangements to be here... we could have stayed home and gotten done what we needed to do... agh.
You paged Stormcrow with 'But... but... Therru and I logged on tonight to help... we had to make special arrangements to be here... we could have stayed home and gotten done what we needed to do... agh.'.
Dave has disconnected.
p SC=And no one will /be/ here in a week!@
You paged Stormcrow with 'And no one will /be/ here in a week!@'.
Anubis pauses beside Maury. ~If you still wish to speak with me, come and do so.~
Anubis heads east, away from the center of the Wheel.
Anubis has left.
From afar, Stormcrow shrugs, "I didn't make the decision.. didn't even KNOW about it til Baney mentioned it just now.."
Flying Bear has disconnected.
Elizabeth walks south, paralleling Brian after Anubis comes and goes. "Will you be all right?"
Dave has connected.
Oaken heads Ilya-wards.
Maury heads east, away from the center of the Wheel.
Maury has left.
On the eastern curve, Anubis heads east, back into the forest and away from the Wheel.
Dylan rakes his hand through his hair, looking disturbed.
ShadowDancer pads over to his packmate. Guess we're notorious now, eh?
On the eastern curve, Maury follows, the silver shining even now as she turns to wave at Brian. "I'll come home tonight. When I'm done."
p Anubis=:sighs, having dragged Jumps and Therru here when we were supposed to be doing work because we needed people for the theurge revel. Everyone's going home for break... will there be anyone here next week?
Long distance to Anubis: Sepdet sighs, having dragged Jumps and Therru here when we were supposed to be doing work because we needed people for the theurge revel. Everyone's going home for break... will there be anyone here next week?
Stormcrow contorts and blurs as he is transformed.
Stormcrow shifts, the soft popping of realigned muscle and bone heralding his shift to Glabro.
+OOC
OOC Lounge
This is a comfortable room, with couches and brightly-colored pillows scattered about. For the four-legged visitors, there are a variety of round doggy-beds and rugs, though careful examination reveals a plethora of short hairs clinging to the pillows. A plate of fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies, two large pots, one holding fresh coffee and the other hot chocolate, and plenty of stoneware mugs sit on the table, compliments of the establishment. High atop a bookshelf, a red tabby cat supervises the conversation with gleaming gold eyes.
This room is intended as a place for OOC and other meta-conversation about the game and as a place for new characters to be introduced to it; if you're not feeling hospitable toward new players, it's suggested that you not hang out here, as they're likely to pop up at random.

Adele says "Well, okay, that's not what Maury said."

Banestriker snarls quietly. ~There will be blood. There will be death. You rush at it headlong, as is your birthright. It comes in its time. There is always battle.~
ShadowDancer tilts his head in thought. Where there was an explosion within the last year.
Aleksei sits down and begins to muddle about with a small silvery rock absently.
Jumps nods.
On the southern curve, Brian leans his weight on the birch staff, a gentle smile curving his lips. "Don't s'pose it was anybody I know?" The smile fades slightly, and he nods. "'Kay," he says. "Thanks." He draws a deep breath, turns, and hobbles through the treeline, southwards, whistling a quiet tune to himself.
Michael Powers turns at the sound of his name and looks in confusion.
On the southern curve, Brian heads south, out of the Wheel and into the forest.
On the southern curve, Song Weaver heads south, out of the Wheel and into the forest.
On the southern curve, Deadly-Eyes almost slinks guiltily back to the center.
On the southern curve, Deadly-Eyes heads into the center.
Deadly-Eyes has arrived.
Lauren motions for Jumps to follow and, seeming to pick a direction at random, heads north.
Deadly-Eyes retakes her seat, hunched down, giving Dave another look.
Lauren heads north, away from the center of the Wheel.
Lauren has left.
Banestriker continues in measured tones, obviously working to keep his temper. ~Our survival is not the question. Who will protect the people of the city? What will protect the Veil, if we are not cautious?~
Jumps heads north, away from the center of the Wheel.
Jumps has left.
:sits down next to the Tablestone and ignores everyone, staring into the pathstone's cool depths, ignoring the faint sparks skippng off the nape of her neck and shoulders.
Sepdet sits down next to the Tablestone and ignores everyone, staring into the pathstone's cool depths, ignoring the faint sparks skippng off the nape of her neck and shoulders.
On the northern curve, Lauren turns to the north, and leaves past the rim of the Wheel.
Aleksei has disconnected.
On the northern curve, Jumps turns to the north, and leaves past the rim of the Wheel.
Dave seeks Megan once more.
Deadly-Eyes chuffs softly. ~ What is it? ~
Eligio Sacateca sits down across from Sepdet. He waits for her to look up.
Dave whispers softly to her.
Oaken turns his attention to Need-Reason. A nexus crawler was among those we fought in the last battle there. To kill such a thing takes more than bravery, otherwise it would already be dead.
Need-Reason cannot help but rumble deeply still. ~I thought Veil would be safe if battle was in Shadow. Nothing was said. Elders must know more.~Sepdet finally takes a breath and leans back, though her gaze does not stir. ~Rhya?~ she queries softly to Rain Walker.
Banestriker snaps his muzzle shut, speaking through clenched teeth. ~We will know more. That is why we wait. We do not sit idly.~
Grips-Tightly pages to Hank, Song Weaver, Lauren, Dave, and Sepdet: Later...
Eligio Sacateca says quietly. ~I have heard of something else I think you should know, it may regard my Wendigo brothers.~
From afar, Eligio Sacateca grins. Sorry, I'm a bit laggy tonight.
Dylan stands, shoving his hands deep into his pockets, looking restless and almost irritable.
Therru finally stirs herself and gets to her feet. Looking confused and on edge, she cicles the Table Stone warily before sitting down on the opposite side of it from Eligio and Sepdet.
Hank stands to the side, looking a little bored and waiting for Vel. He glances around a bit.
Deadly-Eyes starts, growling something softly back.
Sepdet's chin comes up at that, and her attention. ~Little Brother. What of them?~
Need-Reason holds out both great hands before his eyes, and concentrates hard. The change starts in his hands, and seems reluctant to spread, but eventually encompasses his whole body.
Need-Reason contorts and blurs as he is transformed.
Need-Reason shifts into Homid form.
Dave whispers to Deadly-eyes again, softly.
Oaken pages to Eligio Sacateca and Sepdet: A high perception and some peripheral vision will inform you that you've captured Oaken's attention pretty fully as well.
Dylan sighs, and looks around at the milling garou.
Eligio Sacateca frowns a little, unsure of where to start. "Did you ever meet Carlos?"
Banestriker nods, once, in tight approval.
Andrew moves around the debating Garou to approach the gnawers.
Ned Briggs says "Banestriker-rhya. I am not a Rageful member of our follk, and am rarely to be seen like this. Give me a task: let me do something to help the Sept which has been so helpful to me!"
Sepdet seems to be struggling to put herself together, evidently discomfited by not being able to do her job yet tonight. She was braced for battle. After a moment, she shakes her head. ~Not yet, Rhya.~
Hank shrugs, when Andrew asks him something, and replies quietly.
Eligio Sacateca frowns. "Nor have I, at least not in years. But he has been busy, I fear, trying to track me down."
Banestriker's muzzle wrinkles in exasperation for a moment, then a feral grin crosses it. ~You truly wish a charge? It requires much patience, and its importance is difficult to see, tho great it is.~
Eligio Sacateca lowers his voice.
Andrew nods affirmatively at Hank, and speaks quietly with Velasquez.
Matt has connected.
Sepdet listens to Eligio with forehead knitted.
Dave nods to Deadly-Eyes, and moves off, thoughtful.
Ned Briggs looks up, from his subordinate position knowing that his direct stare of acceptance won't be seen as insolent.
Eligio Sacateca pages to Sepdet, Oaken, and Therru: If you are all paying close enought attention, you can probably overhear. "He has been on a project here, with the University of Mexico, his thesis in archeology. He has been running a small dig on a ranch northwest of this place."
Deadly-Eyes contorts and blurs as she is transformed.
Deadly-Eyes warps her vaguely humanoid shape to that of a large cedar shaded dire wolf.
Dave heads south, looking tired.
Dave heads south, away from the center of the Wheel.
Dave has left.
Therru casually swivels her ear towards Eligio.
On the southern curve, Dave heads south, out of the Wheel and into the forest.
Banestriker speaks in a tone both serious and tinged with amusement. ~There is a fetish to be guarded. I give it into your care.~
Lara-Anne has connected.
Dylan rakes his hands through his hair again, and heads off toward the Windy Spot, looking for some release of the tension.
Dylan heads southwest, to the spot where the winds swirl.
Dylan has left.
Deadly-Eyes looks around the wheel once more, then heads southwards.
Deadly-Eyes heads south, away from the center of the Wheel.
Deadly-Eyes has left.
On the southern curve, Deadly-Eyes heads south, out of the Wheel and into the forest.
Ned Briggs says "I will guard it as would Heimdall himself, Banestriker-rhya."
You paged Eligio Sacateca with 'If you were speaking in English, Sep would normally have trouble with "dig" in that sense and "archaeology", except for the fact that she grew up near tourista-ville in Egypt. :)'.
Scratching behind his ear, Banestriker pauses a moment before continuing. ~It's in the river.~
Ned Briggs says "...And must be retrieved?"
Ned Briggs says "...Or guarded where it lies?"
You paged Ned Briggs with 'Not exactly. Grrinnnnn.'.
Banestriker shakes his head. ~It's a fish.~
Lara-Anne heads west, away from the center of the Wheel.
Lara-Anne has left.
p Ned=Hee hee. I knew it.
On the western curve, Lara-Anne heads west, out past the rim of the Wheel.
You paged Ned Briggs with 'Hee hee. I knew it.'.
Sepdet nods to Eligio and mutters softly back to him.
In the Windy Spot, Dylan paces back and forth for a few moments, then lowers himself stiffly to the ground, folding his legs into a half lotus position.
Ned Briggs frowns in frank bafflement. "A fish? But a fish has its own spirit, surely!"
You whisper "~So you cannot go into the city now, or he will find you, and ask things you dare not answer?~" to Eligio Sacateca.
Eligio Sacateca pages to Sepdet, Oaken, and Therru: If you are all paying close enought attention, you can probably overhear. "I have been to the site, but have not talked to him. Earlier last week he uncovered bodies. Nine of them. Two women, two wolves, and five men. All with Native American dress, all without skulls. They were, maybe, five or six years in the ground.
Banestriker spreads his hands in some confusion. ~It eats..poisons. It wasn't a fish. Now it is a fish. It was just a carving, when I won it from..~ He pauses, looking around the clearing. ~From the Wendigo.~
In the Windy Spot, Dylan closes his eyes.
Sepdet winces and goes silent again.
From afar, to Sepdet, Oaken, and Therru, Eligio Sacateca apologizes and is lagging badly on his side. Net problems.
Oaken turns his head from his `idle muzzle-grooming' near Sepdet to regard Banestriker.
Banestriker mumbledly growls, ~As I said, its importance is hard to see. But it keeps the river clean.~
Michael Powers nods emphatically at Banestriker's words.
Ned Briggs says "Very well." this with uncertainty, "Am I to seek the fish in the Shadow, and there offer it the protection of my claws, rhya?"

A tiny 6'2 even in Crinos, you may still be startled by the intense, often quiet gaze of this young Seer. Her long, thin muzzle, large, sensitive ears, short dark fur and sleek carriage point clearly to her Egyptian bloodline. Her ebony pelt is seared away over much of her head and shoulders, where the skin is puckered brown instead of her usual black. She has a definite squint right now because of her swollen lids. Scars old and new dig deep into the back of her shoulders, her left arm, hip, and most of her midsection, as well as four healed clawmarks across her face. A cartouche made of stamped gold, a red-dyed fish pendant of ash-wood, and a hand-carved wooden ankh dangle from a leather thong arond her throat. On her right wrist a tooled leather sheath holds a white bone knife curved strangely like the tooth of some gigantic animal, and a peculiar klaive of grey metal and ceramic swings from a red belt of braided learther slung from shoulder to waist.
