Although we sorely missed the presence of Master Sylvanus, his influence was felt as there was magnificent drumming in almost every campsite. In particular, friend of Shadlow Legion David, of the (professional mundane) band Turku and his fellow musicians were present all over Pennsic, drumming and playing period-style instraments at parties throughout the site.
The Turku expereince culminated Friday night with a concert and dance presentation in the new Pennsic theatre, followed by open dancing until the wee hours of the morning.
Orluk Oasis presented a magnificient hafla, while doing their best with the microscopic amount of land alloted to them, they hosted hundreds at their spectacular middle eastern drumming and dancing party.
Similarly, the "Hell party", the "Mardis Gras party", the "Middle Kingdom Known World Party", and the "Men without Pants party" all featured great drumming and dancing.
Needless to say, HRH Ilissa was respelendent in her variety of gawazhee coats, saris, cholis and swirling skirts throughout the week as she again set the standard for other middle eastern dancers. Trim, tan and eighty pounds UNDERweight for Royalty, she has also set the standard in poise, style and the all-around "Wow!" factor.
Speaking of proud presentations, Shadow Legion proudly contained more than 15 members on the postage stamp alloted........ (pre-reservations are a good thing! We must remember this for the future)
We all had to cooperate in such a small space in order not to go bug nuts and kill each other, and thanks to everyone in camp for making it work, but - SPECIAL thanks - to Rixa for taking good care of us, to Lance for getting ice, to Marcus for being strong and often helpful, to Pat for being continuously, quietly cheerful and helpful and to Raybert the Shower God, who went through a LOT of trouble to make sure that Lord Washami Sudsi Al-kleen was up and running and keeping us sweet smelling and fresh.
As always, our freinds at Odessy Coffee provided us with "Shadow Legion Remote base" and a great atmosphere and rallying point for the Oar Dance (yes, we recruited NEW members........!!!)
There was also some fighting and some European style music in other parts of the site.
Huzzah Pennsic!
