SCAdian MOVIES: SHAKESPEARE!
No list of SCAdian-interest movies would be complete without a thorough review of Shakepearean films. William Shakepeare wrote during the SCAdian period (well, there is some debate as to whether his plays after 1600 count as "period" for the SCA, but that's another topic), and his plays subsequently reflect period views and use period language. However, many of his plays are set in an early period than his, making "historically accurate" versions difficult (cannons in Hamlet's castle? A pistol at Shrewsbury? A striking clock in Ancient Rome?). But this doesn't stop folks from trying, and sometimes encourages them to throw historical authenticity to the winds and create versions that reflect a certain theme or point of view.
