Swimmy Headed
Back stroking through
cluttered orange sea of Jell-O;
blockades of pineapple chunks
and cherry halves prevent clear passage;
completion of thought.
Laughing in the Sun
Days laughing in the sun
No longer fulfills my need
Since you left me all alone
Soaking feather down pillows
In salty rivers of degraded emotion.
Only wishing one last chance
To say those words convincing
You how true they ran through my veins.
You made me breathe, yet now
I sit suffocating beneath weights of wanting.
You were proud till the end
Never letting go of the lead
Trying to prove you could live
On your own, and I remained
Strong till you left me alone.
Songs are left without rhythm
Playing across airwaves reaching
No one. I cannot sing you back
To me or convince you what is real.
Reality is you left me,
But because of your strength
I wonder if you know.
These flowers will laugh
In the noonday sun next to your
Tombstone telling you the truth tomorrow.
