FUCK THE RULES
Some girls I know will say,
“I love the book The Rules
I follow it all day
It’s just like mating school!”
Now what I know of this
Your feelings you don’t bare
The first date you don’t kiss
You never show you care
When a guy digs a chick
he just invades her space
But when we feel lovesick
we have to keep our place?
This is the means and ends
The goal: To be a wife
I say to all these girls
Please, let’s all get a life
If I would find myself
a servant to The Rules
Push me back on the shelf
like useless costume jewels
If a man needs a game
to make a commitment
Could our love be the same?
For me it’s gonna be different
I have to be myself
Simple, wild and free
And if I’m by myself
then it was meant to be
When I’m on a mountain
and look out over fields
I feel a contentment
I feel at peace and real
and if a man can give me that
then he’s got a pretty good deal
I find the mountains very cool
and they are my only “Rule”
