Hello there! I'm back.
Well, I did go to the barbeque and had an okay time. I didn't get sunburnt this year
which is quite amazing. I did of course wear a wide-brimmed hat and slathered myself
in sunscreen, so I took appropriate precautions.
The party was fine, it started too early for me though! Having to get up before 9:00am
to have a party just isn't my cup of tea.
It was nice to see the sea...I even went paddling a bit, but there wasn't a good place
to go in. It was so hot today.
After the barbeque I rented some movies on the way home. So far the only one I've
watched is Great Expectations. I enjoyed it a lot. I haven't read this Dickens
novel, so I'm not exactly sure how it differs, except of course for the setting.
I called my sister tonight. I enjoyed talking to her and listening to Katie-chan
in the background.
Oh, yeah , I promised you, my gentle readers, a
list of things I don't miss from Canada
.
Hockey night in Canada-boring
CRTC Canadian Content rules-when I hear a Canadian on the radio here it's because
they are good, not just because the government makes us listen to them.
Rude checkout people in supermarkets.
Graffiti covered buses and trains-especially the "repent now" signs that were everywhere
in Edmonton when I left.
Watching cheesy or uplifting Canadian programs on the CBC.
How's that for now?? Enough, methinks.
Back to yesterday.
Back to main diary page.
