The Banner Black and Gold |
Words and music by Cathal SilAlmhain |
My King and Queen have summoned me to take up arms and ride Away with them to foreign lands to stem a foreign tide. I take with the banner of the Kingdom that's my pride To mount it on the lands we win--buried in it if I die. For I fight for the Kingdom where the valor ne'er grows cold-- Let ev'ry army flee before the banner black and gold. And now I stand upon a hill surrounded by a horde A thousand foriegn barb'rous warriors led by barb'rous lords. But the Ansteorran line is true and fears not horse nor men We blow our fighting horns and spit the challenge down at them. For we fight for the Kingdom where the valor ne'er gorws cold-- Let ev'ry amy flee before the banner black and gold. Six times the foreign kingdom's force to break our wall has tried, Six mounds of foreign warriors corpses in great heaps are piled. And when the final charge is held, the day is finally won For them a thousand warriors lost--for Ansteorra: None. For we fight for the Kingdom where the valor ne'er grows cold let ev'ry army flee before the banner black and gold. And now I take the banner of the Kingdom that's my home And mount it on the hill we held to mark it as our own. And should they come again next year, on this hill we will stand Let every army know this hill be Ansteorran land. For we fight for the kingdom where the valor ne'er grows cold Let ev'ry army flee before the banner black and gold. Yes--we live in the Kingdom where the valor ne'er grows cold! Let ev'ry army flee before the banner black and gold. |
