CAT Tracks for September 20, 2008
A PARENT SPEAKS UP! |
Wow, we have a parent speaking up for us for a change!
Back in the spring, there were some folks stirring up stuff about Cairo's new interim superintendent...and the wisdom of signing him to a long-term contract as Cairo's new superintendent. They were hot-and-heavy online, trying to track down what they felt were suspicious blanks in his resume...with an emphasis on the Posen, IL, school district where he apparently worked. Then, for whatever reason, they quieted down.
Maybe that is why some folks tune into CAT Tracks...to monitor what is going on since the hiring became official...to see if their fears have come to pass.
The person who sent me the e-mail below is not one of that original group, but the person is obviously concerned with what transpires in CSD #1 and keeps close tabs of what is happening. This person clearly has "connections"...knows the "nitty gritty" and has strong opinions.
This person is also FEARLESS...wanted me to go ahead and sign their name to the submission. However, this person still has a child in the school system and I so warned the person that, in CSD #1, retaliation is a very strong possibility. The person acquiesed in my judgment., but still wanted to voice their opinion on what is transpiring. Since this person continued to be so insistant, I told them that I would publish their composition...since some very nice things were said about the teachers and staff. We don't see THAT in print very often!
Since we seem to again be the target of "outrageous fortune", I felt it would be a morale booster.
The person's submission is an ode to Cairo's new superintendent and is entitled...
I'm sorry you came to Cairo School Dist #1.
I'm sorry you are so unhappy that you wish to make everyone here unhappy.
I'm sorry that you feel that the dist.employees don't have any sense.
I'm sorry that you feel that the teachers don't care about the students.
I'm sorry that you feel that the teachers are incompetent.
I'm sorry you feel that the teachers and the administrators have to be on opposite sides, always.
I'm sorry that you can't see that this town is worth living in.
I'm sorry that you don't want to invest in the district that is paying you so well.
I'm sorry that you feel that you must edict and force people to do what you think is best for them, when we all know you really don't care, you just want your way.
I'm sorry that you think that you can write some big, long word filled letter that has no meaning to anyone.
I'm sorry that you feel that you need the excuse to go to every conference or workshop in order to get back to Chicago, to your home.
I'm sorry that you can't see all of the dedicated staff that you have at your disposal, that will work as hard as they can to help these children be the best that they can be.
I'm really sorry for you, because you are missing out on working side by side with a group of really great people who have not been given the easiest job, but keep on plugging and trying to help the students.
