IF THIS FLIES...

It seems that each day brings a new travesty!

Got some information about what transpired at last night's BOE meeting...AFTER CAT representatives left when it became obvious that we were NOT supposed to hear what was being said at the PUBLIC MEETING.

As Paul Harvey would say, here's "the rest of the story"...

You probably expect me to RANT about this tidbit of information...

However, I don't think I need to...I bet YOU are already doing THAT!!!

Sometimes you just run out of adjectives to describe actions taken on behalf of Cairo School District Number One. "Incredulous" comes to mind..."amazing", "preposterous", etc.

The one word that has popped into my mind frequently during the past few weeks is "surreal", which according to my dictionary means "marked by the intense irrational reality of a dream."

Maybe "nightmare" would be a better choice!!! Somebody pinch me!!!

Back to my subject line...

Folks, IF THIS FLIES...then I do NOT want to hear one word about how CAT asked for too much money in its salary proposal of August 19th!!!

Gary Whitledge...REMEMBER HIM...served as Superintendent/CJSHS Principal/Maintenance Head during his tenure with the District. CAT asked for and obtained a copy of his Contract. Gary Whitledge was hired in as superintendent at $80,000 for the 2005-06 school year...NO house...NO utilties. Gary Whitledge did NOT have an administrative assistant...even when he took on his extra duties as CJSHS Principal and District Maintenance Head.

Last year, neither Bill Rogers nor Leotis Swopes had administrative assistants...and the District survived.

Now, after hiring Leotis D. Swopes at $100,000 (a 20% increase over what Gary Whitledge was paid in 2005-06) PLUS free housing at the CJSHS Cottage PLUS free utilities (up to $300 per month)...Leotis D. Swopes feels the need to employ an administrative assistant???!!!

Of course, if the Superintendent is going to racking up frequent flier miles on various treks to various conferences near and far, somebody needs to be in charge...

Trust me...the previous sentence was simply more of my "editorializing to heighten emotion"...more dripping sarcasm!

It bears repeating - IF THIS FLIES...
