CAT Tracks for August 6, 2008
STAND BY THEIR MAN

In an e-mail sent on "Monday, August 04, 2008 4:07 PM" to CAT President De De O'Shea (in response to her "July 24, 2008 Correspondence"), Cairo Superintendent of Schools Leotis D. Swopes stated (and I quote):

In humbled deference to that edict, here are the facts...just the facts:

  • Thou shalt go to Shawnee Community College on August 13, 2008 for the annual opening-of-school Institute.
  • Thou shalt NOT be paid mileage for doing so.
  • Thou shalt NOT be compensated for any portion of the extended day (exceeding the contractual seven and one-half hours) due to the requirement of attending a location 25 miles from your work site.
  • Thou shalt be allowed to request transportation by air-conditioned bus to SCC should you elect not to drive your personal vehicle.
  • Thou shalt sign in with your principal when you arrive at SCC.
  • Thou shalt receive a letter this week providing you with an agenda for the Institute and directions for applying for the aforementioned air-conditioned bus.

Ooh, ooh, can I add just one more...

  • Thou shalt...ENJOY!

Excuse me for a moment while I say three Our Fathers and three Hail Marys...

Okay, I'm back...just to say "That's all, folks!"

Well, FOR NOW!

Later today, I will present an extended version for "Curious CATs" who want to know the details of what the hell is going on!

You can trust that I will have cause for much penance after I "editorialize" and "skew facts" with wild abandon. However, I shalt not "slant with omission"...providing the text of the Superintendent's responses so that you may judge for yourself.

If you are on the CAT Tracks' mailing list, thou shalt receive the update by e-mail. If you are one of our many "voyeurs", check back later...
