A NEW VACANT LOT |
Scroll down for July 16th update...
From "CNN"...CAT News Network.
I.E. Another House Burns in Cairo.
Started to report this story last night, when upon returning to Cairo at around 6:45 p.m. I noticed the "mushroom cloud".
However, I couldn't pinpoint the exact location, so, thought I'd await the bulletin on the KFVS Channel 12 website (which usually covers Cairo house fires in great detail...complete with pictures.)
Unfortunately, the Cape media was "distracted" by a stand-off at the Pear Tree In...sending in a SWAT team to apprehend suspects in a shooting last week.
So...this intrepid reporter ventured out at 6 a.m. this morning to get the particulars. Flames and smoke are still rising from the empty lot on 22nd Street...just west of Pine Street (the 700 block...catty-cornered from the house that was damaged by fire last week.) Oh, it wasn't an empty lot yesterday...there WAS a house...but no more...just scorched earth. The fire IS under control.
I don't know if the house was occupied or unoccupied...if the fire was accidental or arson. Hey, you want details...you'll just have to wait for the professional media...they get paid to gather the facts.
If/when I find a print report on the fire, I will post it below.
Stay tuned...

Two Fires in One Week in Cairo
By: Heartland News
CAIRO, Ill. - Police in Cairo continue to investigate two fires in one week.
The first fire was on July 7th at a home on the corner of 22nd and Pine. (CAT Editor's Geographical Note...actually the home was in the middle of the block.)
The people living in the home were not injured. The second fire happened around 7 Sunday evening.
The blaze destroyed the vacant home just down the block from the July 7th fire. (CAT Editor's Geographical Note...actually the home was "down the block" and around the corner.)
Still no word on what started it.
