Can I be "CATty" for a moment?

Uh, Ron...when did you ever need permission???

Well, MEOW!

There were a couple of items of interest on the BOE Agenda and CSD #1 Treasurer's Report published earlier today...

First of all...under "IX. Informational"...#7..."Flight Change From California"!

Wonder if this is "coming or going", as in...is this the Superintendent's last trip, or his next trip?

Or...could this possibly be like the Medivac people...you know, the folks that transport organs. Did lost and found, uh, find the heart that was left in San Francisco???

Turning from affairs of the heart to money...the Treasurer's report of the District's nest egg, safely ensconced in the First National Bank in Cairo...$3,116,708.60. LOOKING GOOD!!! And, remember, that's BEFORE STIMULUS MONEY!!!

In a related item that was NOT published previously, there's the monthly payment to the negotiations lawyer...the payment for keeping the nest egg safe and secure from the prying hands of employees. Another $4,893.50 for Tueth, Keeney et al. Let's see now...we need to do the math. How much was that per negotiations session. What did we have, now...was it 10 meetings? Uh, maybe 4 meetings...you know, once a week. What's that you say? There was only ONE MEETING!!! Hmmm...guess one doesn't have to be an ex-math teacher to do THAT math...

Hopefully, CAT's scavenging for enticing mementos did not interfere with the Superintendent's practice time...'cause he's taking his show on the road!

Yes, Superintendent Swopes is venturing forth...to the 44th Annual IASA Conference in Springfield from April 1st thru April 3rd. And, since it is well know that all work and no play would make Leotis a dull boy, the Superintendent has signed up for the golf tournament to be held at that time.
Now, most of us know, when we travel to conferences, any social events are optional...a personal pleasure to be paid for by the participant wishing to indulge. Such activities are NOT on the company's dime.
Not so with Cairo's $100,000 Superintendent. We the taxpayers of Cairo School District Number One shall pay his way...salary, mileage, housing, utilities...golf! (Hopefully Chicago's economy is getting stimulated...it sure ain't happenin' in Cairo! A steady drain of money OUT of the District.)
I know, I know...the golf tournament was only $80.
Yeah, but let me put this in perspective...
A school district that has over $3,000,000 sitting in the First National Bank at 8th and Washington in Cairo saw fit to offer each of its certified employees an additional $85 per year in its last salary offer.
What does that say about how the District values its employees...those folks that are entrusted with educating the students of Cairo School District Number One?
A teacher is worth a day of golf for the Superintendent???
