CAT Tracks for November 19, 2008 WORKSHOP REQUESTS

Many if not most of you are familiar with the following topic...either because your request to attend a workshop has been denied, or you have heard of a colleague so affected.

Several of you approached CAT President De De O'Shea with your concerns. In that capacity, President O'Shea drafted and sent a letter to Superintendent Swopes making inquiry...on your behalf. Yesterday, Superintendent Leotis D. Swopes responded.

Since Superintendent Swopes has repeatedly complained of being misquoted, or having his remarks taken out of context, or having his remarks "editorialized to heighten emotion", the two letters are reprinted below for you to read and form your own opinion...
