CAT Tracks for October 9, 2008
VINDICATION

The letter below goes to show that good things DO occasionally happen to good people!

When CAT is forced into one of its frequent "peeing contests" with the Cairo School District Administration, it is well aware that the PR machine is busy at work on the other side...maybe not as publicly as CAT, but somewhat effectively with those who would give the benefit of the doubt...despite repeated proof to the contrary.

CAT has a well-earned reputation for honestly and truthfulness over the years because, well, CAT has been honest and truthful over the years.

But, STILL...some just do NOT want to believe that such outrageous claims could be true! NOBODY would do such a thing...would they???

CAT heard from several sources over the past few days that Superintendent Leotis Swopes was furiously trying to spin CAT's allegation of racist remarks...allegedly asserting that he was "misquoted". Since no employee wants to believe that their employer would label him/her a racist...committing acts of violence on the students entrusted to him/her, an employee might be tempted to accept a denial...in desperate hopes that it is true.

Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings...

(EDITOR'S NOTE: Okay, in this case I lied...I do NOT hate at all bringing you the news below.)

In addition to CAT, Superintendent Swopes, and four Cairo Board of Education members, there was another party, another witness, to the events of October 2, 2008...the Superintendent and six members of the Meridian Board of Education.

Without any need to "editorialize to heighten emotion", you will now read Meridian's take on what happened on October 2nd...

Okay, we know how CAT perceives what happened that night...and how offensive the remarks were to its members.

We NOW know how the Meridian Superintendent and Board of Education perceive what happened that night.

Superintendent Swopes - IN HIS OWN WORDS - stated how he felt about his certified employees that night.

THAT leaves ONE GROUP conspicuously silent...

ONE GROUP remains...ONE GROUP who was cited as supporters by Superintendent Leotis Swopes at the conclusion of his remarks.

THAT GROUP was the four members of the Cairo Board of Education who attended the October 2nd meeting!!!

It is incumbent upon the Cairo Board of Education to take an official, public stand on how THEY perceive the statement given by Superintendent Leotis Swopes...ON THEIR BEHALF!

The residents of Cairo School District Number One have a right to know..A NEED TO KNOW!!!

We are waiting...
