CAT Tracks for October 31, 2008
EVERYBODY WILL GET SWOPED

Remember my "party music" from last week...

Well, it only took a week for it to come to pass...on HALLOWEEN, no less!

Cairo Superintendent of Schools Dr. Leotis D. Swopes used today's School Improvement Day and his captive audience to launch a denial of the charges laid against him by CAT.

So...rather than preparing the assembled to:

...all of which were listed on the program, Superintendent Swopes decided to AGAIN deny the remarks he made in front of Cairo and Meridian witnesses at the "Meridian Debacle" on October 2, 2008.

I will update this report as I receive more details.

In the meantime, just know that the tense of our week-old song has changed..."Everybody HAS Been Swoped".

POSTSCRIPT: WOW...wonder if Dr. Swopes would agree to tutor me???

After typing and posting this edition, I ventured out to CJSHS to "interview" folks that had been freshly swoped...

Talk about HOT!!!

As one who is constantly accused of "editorializing to heighten emotion"...I have to truly marvel at the feverish pitch to which Dr. Swopes revved up the CATs. Never in my wildest dreams could I have achieved such "success". (The quotation marks were placed around success because I don't think Dr. Swopes intended or anticipated that the fiery and caustic remarks raised by his words/denials would be aimed at HIM!!!)

If Superintendent Swopes' intent was to divide the union membership from its leadership, well, all I can do is quote Mary-Ann Maloney of Channel 12 when she described a previous superintendent's attempt to reopen the schools after they were closed for a few days due to a strike. Mary-Ann's observation..."He failed miserably!"

POSTSCRIPT II: IF Cairo Superintendent of Schools Dr. Leotis D. Swopes were accurate in his characterization of CAT Tracks as comparable to The National Enquirer, I would end this edition by saying...

...and when Dr. Swopes concluded his remarks, he pulled his cape up across his face, shrunk into the form of a bat, and flew away!

Didn't happen!

Well, uh, on second thought...I wasn't there. Did it happen? Guys???
