CAT Tracks for June 2, 2008
POSTSCRIPT |
On a less personal note...
As an old, FORMER history teacher, I can't resist historic quotes or the paraphrasing of such. One that I have thought about, actually for the past few years, is the one by General Douglas MacArthur. No...not the Arnold Schwarzenegger prequel "I Shall Return". Heaven forbid!!! No, instead, the one MacArthur quoted in his "farewell" to Congress ..."Old soldiers (insert CATs) never die; they just fade away."
In light of my previous commitment, it is so appropos...
As I assured De De (as I was twisting her arm to lift the Presidency from my shoulders), I'm "in" for negotiations until CAT gets a successor agreement...whether that takes a week, a month... I won't say more, but, if so, so be it! You have to be a CAT to be President, but you do NOT have to be a CAT to be on the negotiating team. So, I'm in for the long haul, although we ALL hope it will be a short run indeed.
In fact, tonight, Tuesday night, Thursday night, and Friday night of this week, the CAT team has committed to meetings with the BOE team...to take the first steps along what will hopefully be a short and productive road.
And, yes, I fully intend to continue publishing CAT Tracks, although, I will probably try to keep my opinions separate since as of June 30th, I will no longer officially represent the Cairo Association of Teachers.
So, this is NOT "Goodbye". This old CAT is just moving on to one of his other lives...
