Galatia Teacher Arrested on Drug Charges
By: Emily Eddington
GALATIA -- Galatia high school teacher Timothy Monroe is behind bars. The State Police drug task force arrived at the Galatia school district Thursday morning and they say they arrested 37-year-old Monroe on drug charges without incident. He's being held at the Saline County Detention Center pending $25,000 cash bond.
Monroe's arrest warrant says he's charged with three counts of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a church. Records from the Saline County Circuit Clerk say that church is Dorrisville Baptist, which isn't far from Monroe's house on Longley Street in Harrisburg. The records say Monroe delivered a substance containing cocaine on three different occasions in the month of February.
Galatia Superintendent Ernest Felty says the school has no official comment at this time, but he says the district has found no evidence of wrong doing at the school.
