Big Buck Breaks into Sesser Home

SESSER -- According to Sesser police, an extremely large deer broke into a residence on Callie Street. The Cockrum's were just beginning their day at around 8 a.m. when a six point, two hundred pound buck crashed through a picture window at the front of the family's house.

Authorities said the injured deer was in the house for about ten minutes, causing extensive damage. Officer Joseph Moyers responded to the scene and attempted to remove the deer from the home. He deployed a taser, but was unsuccessful. The buck then continued its raid through the house for a short time bleeding and breaking belongings of the Cockrum family. It then finally made its exit, breaking out through a sliding glass door.

Franciska Cockrum said she wasn't sure why this happened. "I just feel sorry for the poor thing," she said. "He didn't mean to come visit us."

Sesser Police Chief Rob Barrett said he believes the deer saw his reflection in the picture window, and charged toward it, thinking it was another buck.

Cockrum said her family is not too upset about the damage caused by the deer as they are in the process of remodeling their home anyway.
