REGULAR BOE MEETING - MINUTES |
Once again, thanks to De De O'Shea for attending tonight's BOE meeting and providing these minutes...
I. Call to Order – 6:05 p.m.
II. Roll Call – Coleman, Mayberry, Mallory, Stubblefield, and Gooden were present. Since BOE President Burris was absent, Vice President Stubblefield chaired the meeting. (The BOE’s attorneys – Frank Garrett from Chicago and Gene Hanses from Collinsville – were present, as was Tom Oates – one of the District’s Financial Administrators.)
III. Examples of Excellence – Sickle Week…$700 was raised in honor of Karen Adkinson.
IV. Recognition of Guests/Comments from Public and Employees – None.
V. Approval of Previous Minutes – Motion made, seconded, and passed.
VI. Approval of Agendas – Motion made, seconded, and passed.
VII. Approval of Treasurer Report – Motion made, seconded, and passed.
VIII. Approval of Payment of Bills/Payroll – Some discussion centering on late charges for two credit cards and the refinishing of the gym floor. Superintendent Bill Rogers indicated that he was going to get the payment date changed on the credit cards to conform with the District’s manner of paying bills. Evidently, the gym floor refinishing leaves much to be desired. The bill will not be paid until the superintendent inspects the floor and discusses same with those responsible. Motion made, seconded, and passed to approve the payment of bills/payroll.
IX. Informational – The ten-year health/life safety plan will be rewritten…not voted on tonight. BOE member Brenda Gooden expressed some concern about the Riverboat Days Parade…namely, people following the band…that it needs to stop. There were also questions about the “dance team”.
X. The BOE voted to enter closed session at 6:37 p.m. The BOE voted to exit closed session at 8:18 p.m.
XI. Requiring Action/Decisions By Board of Education:
Tommy Ellis had information about the gymnasium floor to share with the BOE. The floor could not be fixed because of the heat. They will be back in November. Payment will be held until the repairs are made.
XII. Old Business – None.
XIII. The BOE voted to adjourn at 8:24 p.m.
