And, there was that "Jack the Ripper" fella. Hey, "The Ripper" used a knife...and this guy "admits" to using a knife!

Then there was Caesar...didn't I read something back in high school about an alleged quote..."Et tu, Timothy?"

Have to admit that this issue crossed my mind several weeks ago. I mean, it seemed that Timothy Krajcir was coming up with a "confession a day"!

Bogus confession? Debate about serial killer's admission rages

MOUNT VERNON, Ill. (AP) - Mount Vernon Police Chief Chris Mendenall suspects imprisoned serial killer Timothy Krajcir (KRY'-chur) gave a bogus confession last month to a 1981 knife attack that sent another man to prison.

The chief now submits he knows where Krajcir got some of the details of the crime that got Grover Thompson convicted and sentenced to 40 years in prison.

The state Department of Corrections confirms that Krajcir and Thompson both were housed at the same Illinois prison for years before Thompson's death in 1996.

Mendenall believes Thompson may have casually discussed the 1981 slashing of 72-year-old Ida White with Krajcir, who then claimed the story as his own.

Krajcir will also face kidnapping and burglary charges in Kentucky related to the 1979 killing of a 29-year-old woman.
