USPS SPOILS IL TEA PARTY

Turn out the lights...cuz ya can't afford 'em. Just sit quietly in your dark, cold house...and enjoy a soothing (seething?) cup of tea!

Local United States Postal Service officials are attempting to pull the plug on a call by Illinois Lieutenant Governor Pat Quinn's for customers outraged over a proposed 40% utility hike to enclosed a tea bag with their next bill(s).

Do you think that the American colonists would have heeded warnings from the British government that dumping tea into the Boston harbor might endanger the environment...or cast an unfavorable light on Native Americans?

Just wondering...

IL: Tea Bag Protest Could Be Disastrous For Post Offices

A call to protest high utility prices in Illinois could cause some major problems for the postal service.

Lieutenant Governor Pat Quinn urged Ameren and Com-Ed customers this week to mail tea bags in with their electric bills.

A 40 percent rate hike is expected in the future.

However, postal workers say mailing tea bags could be disasterous.

Machines will not be able to sort regular envelopes with bulky tea bags ... causing equipment to jam.

Janet Wood with the Marion post office says "we're gonna have torn up letters and torn up checks things not arriving where they're supposed to be because they are going to have lumps in the letters."

Postal workers say the residue from a busted tea bag could also cause a security scare, forcing entire offices to shut-down.
