A TWO-FER

In addition to the previously scheduled Special BOE Meeting for Saturday, June 30th, the Cairo Board of Education held an "Emergency BOE Meeting" prior to that meeting...beginning at the previously announced 2 p.m. starting time.

Thanks to ace CAT reporter De De O'Shea, the minutes of the two meetings are below...

The Emergency Meeting was called to order at approximately 2 p.m. Burris, Coleman, Brown, Mayberry, Stubblefield, and Gooden answered roll call. (Mallory arrived approximately 10 minutes after the meeting had begun.)

The BOE voted to enter closed session at 2:03 p.m. The BOE voted to exit closed session at 2:10 p.m.

A motion was made, seconded, and passed to rescind the offer of employment as superintendent made to Ronald Driemeier.

A motion was made, seconded, and passed to adjourn the Emergency Meeting.

The Special Meeting was then called to order and the roll called, with all BOE members present.

The BOE voted to enter closed session at 2:12 p.m. (Bill Rogers was called into closed session and stayed for about 45 minutes. Constance Williams was called into closed session at 3:05 p.m., exited, and was recalled.) The BOE voted to exit closed session at 3:32 p.m.

A motion was made, seconded, and passed to employ Bill Rogers for 120 days as interim superintendent to be compensated as discussed in closed session.
