WINDING DOWN...UPDATED

Nine school days to go...and many, many less "teaching" days!

It's time for the annual...

YEAR-END REMINDERS:

SUMMER MONEY: May 15th is the deadline for requesting all of your "summer money" in one lump sum. Get that request - IN WRITING - to the Superintendent by the close of business on May 15th! There is a limit of fifteen (15) and if the number of requests exceed that number, a lottery will be conducted. (See Section 4.3 of the Contract.) Word from the Central Office is that retirees MUST receive lump-sum payments. Currently there are five (5) certified employees who have announced their retirement. That would leave ten (10) more CATs eligible for lump-sum payments. If you are interested, act by the close of business on Tuesday!
SPEAKING OF MONEY: May 30th looms large...
If you are one of "the few, the proud, the perfect attendee", you will receive your well-deserved $250 on that date! Been there, done that...haven't been the same since. You have my utmost respect!
Extra duty money (unless you received it in pay-as-you-go fashion) is also to be paid on May 30th. (Coaches get/got their money on the payday following the completion of their season.)
And last but not least...you begin getting your annual summer raise on June 15th! You know...CAT dues deduction ends with the 2nd check in May. Your check will be "heavier" in June, July, and August!

BCBS GROUP HEALTH INSURANCE RENEWAL PROPOSAL
The vote of the members (accepted by the Cairo BOE at its meeting on Thursday, May 10th) was "No Change"...to continue current coverage with no change to deductible or insurance card. As previously explained, this means that employees will begin paying a small portion of the premium for "employee only" coverage beginning May 30th. This first payment will be a "double payment" to make up for May 15th. So...for those covered...expect to see a deduction of $32.31 for BCBS on the May 30th check, which will drop to $16.15 on June 15th. Then...on August 15th, that amount will drop to $12.40.
YEAR END LUNCHEON
As usual, the District will hold its annual "Farewell Party" on May 23rd. That is the day when any retirees will be honored. We know for a fact that five long-time CATs have officially made that decision...and there may be more to come. So...please join us in wishing your friends and colleagues "Bon Voyage"!
