NELSON VERSUS CSD #1

Round 2...like Round 1...goes to Nelson. Stay tuned for Round 3?

When does it end?

At the end of 2006 (December 31, 2006 Edition), I voiced my opinion about the District's legal bills in general...and the Lorenzo Nelson case in particular.

This past month I shared my frustration over the April 2007 District legal bills...a whopping $21,000. (April 16, 2007 Edition)

Today, I have received an indication of what part of those bills were probably for...namely, another ruling in favor of Lorenzo Nelson...and injunction issued in the Alexander County Court telling the District to honor the earlier decision in favor of Lorenzo Nelson. In short...instead of demoting the man in the week immediately following the first decision, the District is to restore him to a maintenance position...pending yet another appeal by the District.

Damn...how many "bites at the apple" will it take before the District admits the error of its ways...or at least cuts its losses and moves on?

Maybe the new Board of Education and the new attorneys on the case will have a different perspective...

FOOTNOTE:

My reference to "new attorneys"...

Had heard from two different sources that Barney Mundorf and Christi Flaherty were no longer employed as the District's attorneys.

A visit to the Robbins, Schwartz, Nicholas, Lifton & Taylor Ltd. website would seem to confirm that "rumor".

An accompanying press release introduces "replacements".
