Cairo Cheerleader Collapses and Dies
A Cairo high School cheerleader, dead at 16-years-old. Kenidryana Moss was at a friend's house Friday afternoon, when she began feeling ill. She collapsed after her heart stopped.
George Moss told NewsChannel 6 Sunday that his daughter had struggled with severe asthma since she was a little girl. That didn't stop her from being an active teen. Moss says his daughter wasn't just a pretty face, she was smart too. A straight-A student, she had just received an invitation to visit Purdue University, the college she had always dreamed of attending.
She loved Mickey Mouse, basketball, and more than anything, football. His daughter hoped to one day be the first African-American female NFL coach. Moss says his best memories with his daughter were their long talks. They had a very close relationship.
"She was more than a daughter to me, she was my best friend. She was my everything. Just, my everything," said Moss.
Moss says he's had so much support from the community of Cairo. There are plans at Cairo High to set up a trophy case with her cheerleading uniform as a memorial.
A candle light vigil to remember Moss will be held in front of the Cairo High this Wednesday at 6 pm. There will be a special place to leave gifts for the family and a podium to share special memories of Moss's good life.
Moss’s visitation will be at the Cairo High Saturday from 11 in the morning until 1 in the afternoon. Her funeral will begin at 1 o'clock in the same place.
