CAIRO BOARD OF EDUCATION
CAIRO SCHOOL DISTRICT NUMBER ONE
REGULAR SCHOOL BOARD MEETING
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 26, 2007

6:00 P.M.

AGENDA

I. Call To Order - 6 p.m.

II. Roll Call - Griggs, Brown, Mallory, Stubblefield, and Gooden. (Posey arrived at 6:13 p.m.)

III. Recognition of Guests/Comments From Public And Employees - None

Superintendent Gary Whitledge used this place on the agenda to distribute a 27-page "Mold Inspection Report" on Bennett Elementary conducted by Farmer Environmental Services, LLC.

Bottom line: The report shows a higher mold presence in Rooms 215 and 216 (compared to a sample taken from the 2nd-floor corridor) prior to the clean-up by Steamatic and a lower mold presence in the two rooms (again, compared to the 2nd-floor corridor) after the clean-up.

(Apparently, the 2nd-floor corridor was considered a noncontaminated area to be used for comparison purposes. I personally do not understand that reasoning since it is in the immediate vicinity of the area identified as contaminated, but then I am not a certified air quality inspector...they are.)

After the clean-up, Room 216 had almost the same "raw count" as the corridor...42 compared to 43, while Room 215 had a "raw count" of 2, which matched the reading of the outside air sample.

Superintendent Whitledge indicated that Room 216 had been reoccupied, but that that Room 215 was still closed off...and might remain so for the remainder of the year.

Two pages of the report are reproduced below. Pardon the quality of the copies...what you see is what we got.
