CENTURY SECEDES FROM THE UNION |
Received this e-mail yesterday...
As I've indicated before, the EIA is a strongly anti-public education "watchdog". I signed up to be on their e-mail list long ago...wanting to know what the "dark side" was thinking.
The latest mailing had an interesting "blurb" about one of our neighbors. I'd like to know what was behind this move. Someone obviously got VERY unhappy!
From The Education Intelligence Agency...
COMMUNIQUÉ – December 11, 2006
On the Web at http://www.eiaonline.com
Small Illinois Education Association Local Votes to Disaffiliate.
I only know two things about the Century Education Association in Illinois:
a) it represents some 44 teachers; and
b) it voted on November 30 to disaffiliate from the Illinois Education Association, prompting the union to warn of dire consequences.
It's still a union. It's still the exclusive bargaining agent. It just seceded from IEA and will govern itself.
