BCBS INSURANCE CARDS LATE

Received the following e-mail this afternoon from Kenny Johnson...

Ron:

The Identification Cards will not be available by June 1st but should be received during the week of June 5th-9th. Nevertheless, coverage with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) will be in-force on the effective date of June 1st.

In the meantime, I am providing you with the Temporary Group # for the District and ask that each member calls the toll-free membership number at BCBSIL of 1.800.541.2767 and ask for their “Unique Identification Number (Unique ID#)”. They can give the representative their social security number and they, in turn, can provide the member with their “Unique ID#”.

The member can then use the District’s ID which is...

  • Cairo School District - Group # P95817

...along with their Unique ID#. Doctors, hospitals and pharmacies can provide services as they would when the member has their permanent ID Cards.

Once the permanent ID Cards are received, all temporary ID Cards should be destroyed (shredding is recommended).

Although school is dismissed for the summer, Lee Champion and I are willing to come to the District as early as June to conduct an informational meeting. I welcome your and Superintendent Whitledge’s thoughts on this offer. Until then, remember that members will get credit for the deductible satisfied in 2006 with Principal towards their 2006 deductible with BCBSIL. There is not credit for out-of-pocket from Principal to BCBSIL.

PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT ALL PRINCIPAL ID CARDS ARE DESTROYED ON JUNE 1ST SINCE THE NEW CARRIER WILL BE BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD OF ILLINOIS.

As always, I encourage anyone with questions and/or concerns to call me directly: (cell #) 618.304.0421 (toll-free outside of 618 area code) 1.877.507.3761.

Best regards,

Kenny Johnson
