The show must go on...
Most of you know that I was unable to attend the regular meeting of the Cairo Board of Education held on Thursday, March 16, 2006. However, thanks to De De, CAT can report the gist of that meeting...
Due to circumstances beyond our control, we will abandon the usual format of having an annotated agenda as minutes of the meeting and report "just the facts":
- Approximately 45 minutes was spent on the FY05 audit report prepared by the Kemper CPA Group and presented to the Board by Kimberly Walker. (In response to a question by one of the BOE members, it was stated that there were no criminal charges expected to be filed over the errors found in the District's acounting practices.)
- The Superintendent recommended and the BOE voted to approve an expenditure of $300.00 for the District greenhouse.
- The Superintendent recommended and the BOE voted to approve the employment of Larry Baldwin as Dean of Students at the Jr/Sr High School for the FY07 school year with length of employment being increased from 200 days/yr to 220 days/yr.
- The Superintendent recommended and the BOE voted to approve an increase in the daily rate of substitute pay for elementary teacher aides from $40.00 to $46.00 in order to comply with the minimum wage requirements.
- The Superintendent recommended and the BOE voted to approve the resignation of Margaret Grueninger.
- The Superintendent recommended and the BOE voted to approve the resignation of Larry Baldwin as HS basketball coach.
- The Superintendent recommended and the BOE voted to approve the suspension of a teacher's aide at CJSHS for 5 days.
- The Superintendent recommended and the BOE voted to approve a bid of $900.00 for the sale of the District car. (There was a lengthy discussion about this issue.)
- The BOE scheduled a Special Meeting for March 28th at 6 p.m.
So...as Porky Pig used to say at the end of the cartoons...(although I'll skip the trademark stutter since I don't know how to spell it)...That's all folks!
