CAT Tracks for October 13, 2005 SPECIAL BOE MEETING

The Cairo Board of Education held a Special Meeting at the District Central Office on October 13, 2005, at 6 p.m. The stated purpose of the meeting was "for the purpose of discussing a student expulsion and termination of an employee."

Answering roll call were Griggs, Burris, Huff, and Gooden. Since no employee or member of the public requested recognition to speak, the BOE voted to go into closed session at 6:05 p.m. (Brown and Posey arrived during closed session.)

The BOE voted to exit closed session at 7:40 p.m.

The Superintendent recommended that a student at CJSHS be expelled for one calendar year, commencing on October 14, 2005. A motion was made, seconded, and passed to approve the Superintendent's recommendation. The Superintendent indicated that he had no further recommendations.

The BOE voted to adjourn at 7:43 p.m. (with no mention of the "termination of an employee." Stay tuned...the next meeting is the regularly scheduled monthly meeting to be held next Thursday, October 20, 2005.)
