LUMP-SUM PAYMENTS

According to Superintendent Isom, lump-sum payments to RIFed (and resigned) employees will be made on June 10th as mandated by law AND the Federal and State withholding for taxes will be according to Section 4.3 of the contract - i.e. "at the approximate rate/amount as if payments had been made as normally scheduled." So...disregarding any "EXTRA" money...you should be able to take the Federal and State tax withholding on one of your previous paychecks and multiply by six (6) to arrive at the total to be deducted.

If not...Section 4.15 (Paycheck Errors) states: "In the event of errors in a paycheck exceeding $50, correction shall be made immediately after written notification by the employee and subsequent verification by the employer. Any additional payment shall be made within twenty-four (24) hours of said notification excluding holidays and weekends."

So...if your tax withholdings are incorrect, notify the payroll department IN WRITING - ASAP! It doesn't have to be fancy...something like: "There's an error in my paycheck!", date it, sign it, have them date-stamp it, and get a copy!

Now...For those so inclined and not offended, I would offer the following guidance...
